Warner should start. 2 reasons...

1. It's a competition right? Only fair to let KW have his shot.

2. Sit out Leinart this game, no sense risking injury to our star QB.

It's a risk on Whis' part but he's going to have to somewhat roll the dice at some point. If Warner struggles, it will make any potential decision that much easier. If he doesn't struggle, it's simply status quo. If anything, Warner will be pushing the envelope to try and make himself "clearly" the better choice and will hang himself. As much as I don't like the initial decision by Whis to name Leinart the starter, I think he's actually being really savvy about how he's handling each QB and the situation.

Even the "worst" case scenario in which Leinart isn't starting, this whole situation has forced him to take football a little more seriously and regardless of who starts the 2008 season opener, Whis has two QB's who are working their butt's off and have a real desire to be the starter and Leinart will have gained some mental fortitude from the process.

Could they be playing some mind games with Leinart? :doi:

Clearly they are showcasing Warner for a trade.
I haven't really thought of that possibility seriously but with 4 QB's on the roster is it even a consideration? No team is going to offer something for Warner that the Card's just couldn't refuse.

Probably a good idea. Kurt needs work in live action, just like everyone else. We've seen that Leinart has made some strides. Now it is Kurt's turn to show off.

My prediction is that Warner goes 10-11, marches down the field, throws a touchdown, hands off for another, looks perfect and is pulled.

what bet?
I bet you $1,000 A$FN that Warner and Whisenhunt would agree that the gloves have made a difference in Warner's game since you stated that you feel they have no effect at all. Even though I supplied the statistical information which shows a marked difference you chose to disregard.

Gloves have made an impact for Flutie, McMahon, Warner, Roethlisberger...I'm sure there are others. It's uncommon but for some QB's it helps their game.

I sure hope that is not the case. ML hasn't shown that he can stay healthy for an entire season yet.

I haven't said much on the QB thing, but I believe that KW is the better QB "TODAY", but that ML is our future, and should be the starter until he proves that he isn't the QBOF.

I hope ML proves me and several others wrong and "takes" (or earns) the job and keeps it. It wouldn't upset me to never see KW on the field in a real game as a Cardinal ever again. Nice guy, but we know what he brings.

They're just trying to get his lazy butt off the Segway!

:D

Seems like a good idea start Kurt so he gets to play behind the first string OL and won't hopefully get hit.

I dont have ASFN dollars.

Sure whiz and warner will say that.

Still not convinced that because he has gloves his problems are fixed and he can lead us to the promice land.

Well, during the you think warner should start convo I mentioned his inability to fight turnovers and make mistakes and you said those problems are fixed with the gloves and he now does it little enough to be a starter.

maybe the cards should get the entire uniform made out of the same stuff Kurt's gloves are, we'd be unbeatable.

Like those speedo suits in olympic swimming.

I don't remember if Warner started wearing gloves in the beginning of the season or what but it didn't fix ALL of his problems since he still fumbled the ball 10 times still. But the gloves do seem to have helped a lil on his passes though.

Didn't most of the fumbles come while he had that bionic left arm contraption?

By the way, interesting stats from ESPN:

12. Only three teams had more passing plays of 25-plus yards than the Arizona Cardinals.

13. In the final eight games of last season, Kurt Warner had more touchdown passes than anyone in the NFL. Including Tom Brady.
