Or maybe throw it away, over the head of a WR, out of bounds.......just a F'N THOUGHT WHEN YOUR ON THE 9 YARD LINE!!!!!!!

Does anyone else yell "throw the ball" when our "internal QB clock" knows it's time?

Frustrating.

All the damn time.

That makes 3 of us, 4 if you count Deion he does it all the time in our highlights.

I do that with a lot of games I watch though seems QB's hold the ball longer these days.

Used to be the WCO was so common that the ball came out quickly, now I seem to see less of that.

Think that's why we're seeing so many high sack totals by players.

The Cardinals sacked Bret [sic - Burt] Jones 12 times. There was 1 uncredited fumble in the game it was not lost. The Colts also had 2 INTs.
I was at that game.

Regarding Warner - To me, the common pattern was that he held onto the ball too long.

When he was under pressure, he refused to take a step or two outside the hash mark and chuck the ball into the nickel seats.

When 8 or 9 guys dropped back, giving him all the time in the world, he took "all the time in the world plus the extra second it took to get hammered. Or he'd try to force the ball.

Result - He either took a coverage sack or threw a pick. And when sacked, he failed to protect the ball properly (something that typically would get a younger player benched).

What he should have done was to either throw the ball away or try to pick up yardage with his feet (something I imagine he and the coaches feel he is no longer capable of doing).

I guess there's a fine line between (a) hanging in there until you can finally hit a receiver who gets open and (b) holding onto the ball too long so that you either eat it or throw a pick. All I know is that Warner's ratio of good plays to bad plays is pretty close to what the Cardinals' W&L record was last year and what it is after the first 4 games this year - .500 and that's not good enough.

Me as well.

One of the times I remember best was sitting in our end zone last year against SF at home and counting out loud in the OT as Kurt just held onto the ball in the end zone before the safety. I was like 30 feet away and was yelling "Get rid of the ball....!!!" But he just stood there for like 7 seconds - I was bewildered how a vet NFL QB could be so damn oblivious.....

That was one of the most heartbreaking games I have ever been too and I won't be able to forgive Kurt for that play anytime soon....

OK I am sorry to make this a Whiz topic But if ya'll love Whiz and Whiz says it was the lines fault and you all say it is Warners fault only one of you can be right.

If your wrong then lay off Warner if you are right then the head coach is wrong and thats scary.

Ironically if you watch the NFL.com highlights of that game you can hear Deion yelling "throw the ball" on that particular play. Of course he did that knowing what the outcome was.

I sometimes think with Kurt that he has the mistaken impression that if he holds the ball in 1 hand the defense will back off thinking he's going to throw and if he holds it with 2 hands they know he's not about to throw so they'll hit him. Some QB's like Favre or Manning use the pumpfake to gain an extra split second get the defender to slow, I think sometimes Kurt thinks he's doing that by holding the ball in one hand.

What he's actually doing is making it more likely he's going to fumble when he gets hit.

On the bright side based on what we know about Whiz's belief in fundamentals I would bet they've spent the week drilling into kurt ball protection.

Again I think Whiz is doing what most NFL coaches do, protect the QB because the starting QB is so important to the team. If you say my starter was careless and it cost us the game, you just told your entire team you have no faith in the starter, the very guy you just gave the job a few weeks ago when you benched Leinart. So now you've told your team I have no faith in either of them.

So he instead looks for ways to defend Warner. I would bet anything in the QB meetings they're telling Kurt hang onto the ball.

He also thought punting was right 2 weeks ago.... I KNOW he was wrong that time....

Cause he didn't say it was ALL the lines fault or ALL Warner's fault.

Some plays it was the line, and some were Warner.

First drive of the game, on the nine yard line, you can count to 10 and Warner is untouched and still has the ball in his hands.

When you are on the 9 flippin' yard line ? Throw it away and live to see the next play.

Not sure I'm following the thread right. was this the pick for a TD or the fumble at the 9 going back to the 32?

The 2nd one, the first one was nearly as long though.

I liked the radio description of it either Pasch or Wolf(I forget which) said that Kurt surveyed the field, had all day to throw, and then decided to throw the guy who was covered best.

More like 7... and thus closer to 8...
The ball is snapped 0:12 into the video. The guy who causes the fumble is on Warner's back at 0:17. You can see the ball at the 22.

I dont know man.. Looked like somewhere around 5. Maybe 6. But seriously, regardless of how long he holds on to it from time of the snap to the time he gets hit.. All i want the guy to do is hold onto the damn ball. I can live with punts, just not all the stupid turnovers. It's getting beyond ridiculous.

Your stop watch is broken then. Look at the stills he has posted game clock in the center of the screen is very clear...5 seconds.
