MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP)—Former NFL star Warren Sapp has been charged with domestic battery in South Florida.

According to a police news release, Sapp has been charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. The charge stems from an incident early Saturday morning at a South Beach hotel. An arrest affidavit was not immediately available.

Some of you have asked why NFL Network would decide to keep Sapp off the air while at the same time permitting Michael Irvin to continue to appear on the network. The answer is simple; Irvin is facing no criminal charges at this time.

I'm going to start a company that just provides 24/7 lifeguards to pro athletes, ie you serve as witness and possibly diffuse situations before things get out of hand.

Just tag along, chill, grill out, hang out, and generally provide someone to say, eh, I wouldn't do that, possibly carrying a taser for good measure.

On the other hand if they didn't do it you could always be handy with a phone camera to record potential questionable situations for evidence.

It'd be interesting trying to hire people to do this job, yes you have to be in the room while they have relations to provide evidence at possible hearings and trials.

Course if you charged by the mile certain folks are going to get poor fast racking up huge tag along bills.

They already exist. They're called "handlers" in L.A. and they're not for your dog. Step above regular bodyguard, but not a manager. (People hire them the day they leave re-hab to hold their hands.) At least one agency hires ex-Mossad members.

But you're right. There's a lot of pro athletes that could use them.
