I really doubt that Knight or even Sauce will make that big of a dent in this team's playoff hopes if indeed they have such hopes.

It's just a huge unknown right now. But this team has talent. I believe they have playoff level talent. The question is maturity, chemistry and coaching. Chemistry is sometimes about that one player. JJ is going to have huge impact. He is a high energy, tough defense, no plays off guy. Pj was like that. But JJ is a rookie. Do you think players like Booker, Chris's, and Warren are going to be fine with a rookie outworking them?

It could click. Just not sure when.

In the back of my mind I think that. Then I think about how much the Western Conference improved then it's like...eh.

If the suns were out east we'd have a fighting chance prolly...

Scott Bordow at azcentral expands upon the reason the Suns will not go after a top free agent in 2018.

The four-year, $50 million contract extension given to small forward T.J. Warren means the Suns will be right around the projected $103 million salary cap in 2018-19. Phoenix could try to trade some its assets – young players and/or future picks – to create more cap room, but McDonough said that’s not the franchise’s intention.

“Our plan at this point is internal growth and development,” McDonough said.

That could change in 2019, however, when the salaries of Tyson Chandler, Eric Bledsoe and Jared Dudley (a combined $38 million) are off the books.

“If you look at our cap sheets, we have a decent amount of cap space in the summer of 2019,” McDonough said. “We have the potential of getting back in the free agent market.”

However, as discussed earlier, the Suns could move up this timetable with a trade(s).

I know what a trolley is. And folly. And holly. And a girl named Molly. But what is a prolly?

Oh, you probably mean . . . Never mind. :)

'Sorry, pokerface. 'Just teasing.

Speaking of poker face, I remember the night with six of my fraternity brothers and I playing 7 card stud high-low 10-20 (yes, that was a long, long time ago). One of the other guys had just suggested we go from our usual nickel-dime to 10-20 cents for the last part of the evening.

I ultimately declared "both" and my low straight flush beat a full boat and my perfect low beat a 6-5-3-2-ace. You can guess which two guys cursed me out. And I smiled. And swept in my $40. That paid for a lot of individual pizzas and ten cent beers. Yup, the year was 1962 -- fifty-five years ago. :santa:

I played in a similar game once, also in a college dorm. The last hand was 5 card draw - progressive with trips or better needed to win. At about hand 7 we let the two guys that had dropped out early buy back in. The bidding -nickel, dime and quarter - got wild for a few hands but then calmed down because all of our money was in the pot. At about hand 20 the bidding would have been crazy because we had two sets of trips and a full house - I'm telling the story so you know who the full house. Soph. year so 1957-58.

At my age, I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday. But I can still recite the lyrics from every rock'n'roll song from the '50's and 60's and, being raised in New Jersey, the batting averages from the '53 Dodgers. Five .300 hitters, five with 90+ RBI's, the first four hitters in the lineup finishing 2-3-4-5 in stolen bases in the NL, etc. What versatility.

And, of course, my wonderful fraternity years. Nope, I'll never forget that night at the poker table in the frat house. As well as many other memories.

Thanks, but I think it's more realistic than anything else. And, hey you younger guys, it's going to hit you, too . . . if you're lucky enough to live long enough.

Aging, short-term memory loss . . . it's all part of the game. When I watch baseball games now and the bases are loaded, it's like, "Who's on 1st, What's on 2nd and I Dunno's on 3rd." Seriously!

But I am at the point when I can think of it after a few minutes. As time has gone by, it takes a little longer.

"Doc, I have this problem with my memory." "Tell me about your problem." "What problem, Doc?" :)

Maybe. However, I enjoy reading your posts better than I ever have. I don't see it in your writing. You have adjusted to the new NBA just fine.

I think you are going trying to lower expectations so you can zoom by us. ;)

LOL. Nah, I just want to be one of the guys.

P.S.: I must share that you don't see it in my writing, because I stop to glance over the roster as I post. I've learned to first copy what I've written. 'Got burned a few times when I didn't and the paragraphs were gone when I returned to the thread.

BC, the paragraphs should be there if you don't post them.

Good information for future posts.

My computer has crashed several times but luckily the thread where I was typing saved them. It's a board function at ASFN which I like. It should work that way.

Also you might be too hard on yourself. Sometimes your memory selectively filters out information that it feels it is not terribly important.

Someday we will have to do Majerles.

I'm ready when you are. I live in NE Phoenix so I usually frequent the one at Desert Ridge Marketplace. Or we could hit the one downtown. Their place in Old Town Scottsdale (off the beaten path) started staying open less and less days per week, then finally closed.

It's on my list of things to do!
