The Golden State Warriors have requested waivers on guard Sarunas Jasikevicius after reaching a contractual buyout agreement, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Sign this man. I think he'd be a great back up point guard for Nash. If we end up with Grant Hill, Sarunas and PJ Brown, then this offseason went very well.

You're right. We should just keep giving him confidence by not playing him and trying to trade him.

The Suns certainly won't claim him off of waivers. They'd probably offer him the minimum.

The Warriors weren't playing him and he was considering leaving for Europe. The Warriors tried to trade him, but didn't pull the trigger on anything. Sarunas said they had good offers, but refused to do it, and he got upset. This seems like the only way to sever ties cleanly.

I think he needs the right system. He's a guy who will help us execute in the half court while Nash is out. You can outlet to Barbosa and let him push the ball, but if he can't create an easy bucket, you give it to Sarunas and let him dissect a bit.

I'm not too high on this guy. He got way too much hype after he played well against the US in the Olympics, and hasn't really shown much of anything since being signed by Indiana and the brief time he was in GS he sucked too.

Maybe he'd do better in a certain system, but he was just in a run & gun system with Nellie, and he never sniffed the court, so I don't know what to think of him coming here.

I don't see him doing much more than Banks would honestly.

Put me down in the anti-Jasikevicius camp. He's been flat-out awful in the NBA, and seriously, how much different are the Warriors and Suns in terms of style? If he's such a bomb with Golden State that they're waiving him, I can't see how he'd be a contributor in Phoenix.

Major problem with Jasikevicius is that he demands a leadership role and needs it to be effective.

He also has slow feet.

He is a pretty good shooter however and in terms of passing there are only a handful of PGs with as good court vision/passing in the NBA.

My computer must be messed up. It says 9/20/2007 and I was under the assumtion that training camp hasn't even started, let alone games. I had no idea that we were still not playing Banks. I must have missed all the trade rumors involving Banks, well except the ones that went something like "Banks, Marion and the Atlanta pick for KOBE!!!"

Sarcasm aside the point I'm trying to make here is that the Suns are going to sign another big man, that's it. Discussions involving any other type of player, unless it's a trade, are about as pointless as talking about us having the #1, #2 and #3 picks in the draft and who we should then take.

He's not that good? Honestly I had high hopes when the Warriors got him and he couldn't get minutes on a team that was desperately searching for a backup PG because Nellie isn't convinced Monta Ellis was the answer as a PG backup to Baron and he didn't want Baron to wear down.

He had the 2nd lowest adjusted FG% on the team(POB my god for a C his % was atrocious) and while his A/TO ratio was ok it's not Suns ok.

Maybe he fits the Suns system better than he did the Warriors but honestly for a guy known for his shooting he shot horribly and can't defend well enough to get more minutes with the Warriors.

BTW, I was wondering how many point guards from Europe not named Tony Parker have made it in the NBA (beyond deep bench). I can think of several flops.

That's a good point, particularly since Parker didn't have much of a track record before being drafted -- thus one could argue that he doesn't count. The list of established Euro point guards who have made the transition to the NBA begins with ... anyone?

Well, there's guys like Charlie Bell, but I'm not sure that counts.

plus he makes horrible decisions and was supposed to be a pretty good ball handler(which he was not).

My biggest pet peeve with that guy was he always left his feet to make a pass and had a knack for dribbling straight into double teams.

I know barely anything about him, just the same as I and apparently the suns FO knew barely anything about Marcus Banks. Well look where that got us.
