Full Disclosure: I watched the first half of the game in person with my son and the second half at home on DVR. My wife didn't extend the end time, so I missed the last four or five minutes of garbage time.

1. Carson Palmer, QB. I admit that I didn't see this coming. Palmer's been taking mental reps for three weeks, likely mostly worried about whether his career was in jeopardy. He likely couldn't even focus on getting and keeping his arm strong. He came in with a virtuoso performance protecting the football and moving the chains.

2. Larry Fitzgerald, WR. Everyone in the media wants Larry Fitzgerald to have a melt down. Not enough catches, makes too much money, may be too old. The truth is this: No one in the NFL makes catching a football look easier than #11 for the Arizona Cardinals. The long term problem is that he doesn't make getting open look as easy.

3. Chandler Catanzaro, K. This kid has just been nails. Nails. Young man didn't even kick in college really. Impressive find by Steve Keim and his staff.

1. Tyrann Mathieu, S. I'll do the film study breakdown of the Jackson TD catch later this week, I promise. I was interested in watching Tyrann in part because his number pops out on the field when you're at the game. I'm here to tell you that it was not Patrick Peterson's fault that Jackson scored that long TD. He expected Mathieu to be in position to make that play.

2. Deone Buchannon, S. The Cards have to figure out how to develop this guy as a coverage player along with his linebacker/run support play. Is it really possible that he doesn't have a single pass defensed on the season, despite all the snaps that he's played?

3. Rob Housler, TE. Hello The Dude my old friend. The Goats list finds your name again. Because on two plays when you could've contributed, you instead wet the bed with a drop and falling short of the line to gain.

Need more info on why the wife is responsible for DVR issues. :)

Great write up though.

I'm not going to DVR a game that I'm going to; if I want to re-see something, I'll wait until it comes on NFLRewind. How was I to know my 4-year-old wasn't going to make it through the entire game?

To my wife's credit, she wasn't happy that the game cut off in the last five minutes. She watched the first half at home and turned it off when I texted her to DVR the rest so that we could watch it together. My wife's the best.

Except for her forgetting to extend the end time. Rookie mistake. My wife's the worst.

I thought Buchannon had another fantastic game. Even Keim mentioned his name this morning as one of the young guys playing at a high level early in his career.

http://blog.azcardinals.com/2014/10/13/keim-working-on-petersons-focus-intensity/

– He praised a few young players, linebacker Alex Okafor in particular, but also defensive lineman Ed Stinson and safety Deone Bucannon.

I'd put Patrick Peterson in as a Goat instead of Deone this week. Peterson played well for the most part but he had 4-5 plays where he lost focus.

Good call on the HB messing up on the Jackson TD:

http://blog.azcardinals.com/2014/10/12/qb-normalcy-in-redskins-aftermath/

– Patrick Peterson got beat on DeSean Jackson’s 64-yard slant-and-run touchdown. Mathieu looked like he could have been over the top. Mathieu said the Cards “kind of messed up our coverage a little bit.” Plus, Mathieu said he took a “horrible angle” toward Jackson, costing him a chance at the tackle.

saw that too on the TD, HB took a terrible angle and ended up slowing down peterson instead of jackson. If HB went more left instead of down, he would have at least changed jacksons directions and sent him back to peterson.

Come on how can you single out Housler and not mention his great block on the sweep where he wound up running into the back of one of his own players and the guy he missed took down Ellington. Even I was yelling to get him off the field after that one.

We appear to not have a good TE on the roster, even Carlson came up short on a key 3rd down pass.

I think you meant to say that Catanzaro didn't do kick-offs in college. Clemson's punter did the kickoffs. Cantanzaro was a four year starter as the kicker for Clemson.

Well, when you cite a disinterested party like Steve Keim... :D

Jordan Reed had 8 receptions for 92 yards yesterday; many and more of them were with Bucannon in coverage against him.

Bucannon has yet to defense a single pass in his NFL career, according to ProFootballReference (which may be wrong, but that's the source I used).

Bucannon has been, as I said last week, better than Daryl Washington was as a rookie in run support. But he's not a linebacker. He's a safety. I'm waiting for his skills doing safety stuff to manifest.

Sorry, I didn't see any of the game and forgot to dvr it when l left town on Friday. But, I did try to listen to most of it on the radio driving home yesterday. I did lose the last few minutes of the game on the radio, so, missed some of the "garbage" time you're talking about. I don't think that is my definition of garbage time? :) .

Not an official goat, but Kevin Minter had 10 of a possible 60 defensive snaps Sunday. That's 17% of the available reps. Yikes.

Mathieu had 49, taking most of those from Tony Jefferson, who only had 11.

Minter is now a situational player, nothing more. I don't see that chaging since he is way too limited in what he brings to the table.

Hopefull the rust will wear off pretty quick for Mathieu. I hope we is back to normal for Philly, we are going to need the 2013 Mathieu out there to slow them down.

Agreed...Bucannon stood out for not good reasons in coverage. Best case, his time at LB helps slow the game down for him, which will shorten his learning curve in coverage when he gets moved back to S.

Say what you want but Housler has really improved as a blocker, this year.

Oh I agree but the block that I mentioned was hilarious, he literally ran into a teammate missed his man and his man made the tackle.

I love Heroes and Goats. Although it takes a too long to build up your resources and it's time consuming to milk the goats when you only have a level 2 Goat farmer with the warrior trait. I should have picked mage.

For me, garbage time didn't start until 0:18 of the fourth quarter.

I've always heard the paladin gives you the best of both the warrior and Mage types.

Don't agree with the goats at all. I think the badger had his best game if the season (minus that missed dj big td) and db was making HUGE hits! I heard Steve Keim this morning talk about how happy he was with his play also.
