Cam Heyward cannot catch a break for his previous comments on Aaron Rodgers coming to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During his appearance on Wednesday's episode of NFL Network's Good Morning Football, Heyward again clarified his previous Rodgers stance, saying that he would gladly welcome the four-time MVP quarterback.
One notable takeaway from Heyward's appearance was his comparison of Pittsburgh to New York—potentially a subtle jab at how the Jets handled Rodgers or Russell Wilson's recent signing with the Giants:
"We don't really care about the glitz and glam of New York, but the focus is on good hard football, competing every day, challenging each other, trying to go from there."
Heyward previously expressed disappointment when the Pittsburgh Steelers lost Justin Fields to the Jets, and his latest comments about New York—coming less than 24 hours after Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Giants—might hint at how 'Mr. Unlimited' was viewed in the Steelers' locker room.
Only time will tell if the "glitz and glam" of New York attracted Wilson to the Giants—or if it’s what ultimately drove Rodgers away from the Jets and possibly toward the Pittsburgh Steelers.
