Many have been doubting whether Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, has a real future in the NBA. He has been shuttling back and forth between the NBA and the G League this season, and while he has had some big games in the G League, he is still very much a work in progress who has to prove he can play with the big boys.

But on Thursday, the Lakers called his number when four of their starters and six of their rotation players were out of action against the Milwaukee Bucks. Surprisingly, the 20-year-old rookie responded with a performance that was a strong proof of concept. He scored 17 points on 7-of-10 field-goal shooting and 2-of-4 from 3-point range while dishing off five assists, and he looked far more comfortable and confident than he looked even a month ago.

He did a good job of mixing up his offensive attack with attempts from all three levels, and he also threw a few pinpoint passes that weren't easy to make.

Although the Lakers lost 118-89 to Milwaukee, this game should do wonders for the younger James' confidence, and that could lead to more good performances for him in the immediate future.
