can we call them today and trade them a sixth round pick for his rights??

No. Trading season has closed until the league year opens in March, at which time Albert will (likely) become a free agent and KC won't have his rights.

We don't even have the money to place the Franchise Tag on him even if we were able to get his rights before then.

Sundevil suggests that we can "mid-load" the contract so that Albert gets a windfall in 2015 when the Cards have more cap space. It's not impossible that he would agree to this deal, but it's unlikely. Other teams will be able to offer him substantially more money right now, and there are no guarantees that Albert would be paid if he's injured or something in the second year of that deal .

Miami will have at least $10M in cap space before releasing players to make additional roster changes, for example. The Giants will have a similar amount of money and a need at LT.

Really good player. Really high price tag. Fills a huge need. May or may not be available. We will see.

and i guess that's where I'm dubious that they just let a very good, healthy, young LT go for nothing. especially if their LT of the future was truly a disaster this year.

They were reportedly willing to let him go for a second round pick last year, then when Miami wouldn't cough it up they kept him for another year.

If you consider a third round compensatory pick in 2015 nothing then I guess it would be, but depending on what they sign themselves this offseason, that could be what they are looking at.

Sometimes good players do make it to free agency. See Julius Peppers and Mario Williams. But it is relatively rare. And it is almost never a very good left tackle or quarterback.

My prediction is Jared Veldheer or Rodger Saffold ( 26) for the Cards.

They are both younger and cheaper than Albert. We have to pay

Peterson his pie and cant afford Fitz, Palmer and Albert. I have

a better chance of stealing Samantha Ponder away from her husband

than the Cards landing Albert. I would love to have him however.

We don't have to address Peterson prior to the 2014 season, and we can certainly make a competitive offer to Albert.

Don't know how this effects your chances with Samantha, but - best of luck.

Saffold has me curious though I can't say I have watched enough film to know how much he would be an upgrade over Winston at RT.
