We are so lucky Kolb didn't break his arm diving for the fumble on the pitch play. He dives with his right arm extended and 3 Carolina Players jump on the ball and his arm.

Agreed though if Beanie catches the ball...He walks in.

If we don't turn the ball over and miss a FG. We beat the Panthers fairly easily. I think we made the game much harder than it was.

2 Bad calls....The launch play where they called Unnecessary Roughness...was terrible. Launching to me would be launching from say 2 to 3 yards away. He jumped from like a foot away. He had to..he is 8 inches shorter.

You take away the 2 bad calls and the turnover/missed fg we win by 17+

We had 4 sacks but man we had like 5 others where he gained a yard or 2 because of the pressure. Our pressure was alot better than I think people are giving credit. He had 5 runs of 1-3 yards but after we pressured him out of the pocket.

We dominated the 2nd quarter and yet lost the scoreboard 7-0. We went 80 yards and fumbled and then went 65 yards and missed a fg.

ALso if Beanie scores and we kick the fg. We score 38 points!! That is quite impressive. I think we have the ability to score 30 a game with this team.

I actually don't mind the gameplan on D. Cam had to make some great throws and he did, and they scored 21 points. We'll score more than 21 every Sunday, I believe.

Agree.

When that play happened I was thinking. This is Warner and Julius Peppers all over again.

First time watching, and I've never seen more wide open receivers. The pass defense is atrocious, and I suppose some of that is warranted due to the lack of playing and 0 experience by both starting corners. Peterson did get abused quite often, but he has all the ability in the world to be great, which I think he will be. Safeties were non-existent, other than a TFL by Wilson and a sack by Rhodes, both of them were completely horrible in pass coverage. Despite the worst covering I've ever seen, Kolb played great, and didn't make any stupid mistakes. O-Line run blocked well, but pass blocking is obviously still a major issue.

Watching replay:

1. Washington's half sack in the 1st Q belongs to solely to him.

2. Colledge blew up Beason into EZ on Beanie's TD run

3. You could see confusion in defensive backfield prior to Smith's first TD.

4. Horrible call on the roughing the passer call negating Washington's INT. You could argue that Marshall left his feet, "launching" himself into Newton but Marshall is 50lbs lighter and 6" shorter... how the heck is going to take the man down?

5. PP21 had good coverage on Smith's 2nd TD... perfect throw by Newton and great concentration by Smith.

6. Newton was freakishly accurate in this game. He was never this accurate in college or preseason.

7. All our blitzing put 2 untested CBs on an island all day long. Not surprising that Newton was able to pick us apart when they picked up the blitz.

I watched it last night again too.

I thought the pass rush was strong. I rememeber reading somewhere that the sacks didnt tell the whole story but I totally disagree. We blitzed more then we ever have and i felt like the pocket was collapsing around Newton 70% of the time and rushing him.

If we have a strong passing game and middle of the road pass rush, as long we dont give up 422 yards every week we could do very well this year.

This.

I am confident PP will get better. Would be real nice to have Toler with this game plan obviously. Ugh.

One surprising thing that leapt out was the number of times Newton could have escaped for big yardage, only to have a Cardinal defender get a hand on him and trip him up before he could get loose.

I'm not sure if it was because our guys were that good or because Newton is a shade slower than Michael Vick or Vince Young.

One thing I've talked a lot about the last couple of years is that the Cards were too small to run a 3-4. However, they are quick. And that quickness helped keep the pursuit by the Cards very good most of the game. Especially when our Irish OLB was in. That guy has a motor.

And now that the Cards have Big Dan, Carter and Eason they aren't that small for the 3-4 anymore. Much better combination of quickness and bulk than the last couple of seasons.

I thought the same thing when I saw the replay and Kolb reached for that fumble.

That's like the exact same way Kurt screwed up his elbow. I'm glad he didn't get hurt.
