I knew I liked you.. What part of PA?

Also, there's a pretty good deal at WalMart currently going on, if you buy "Return Of The Thundering Herd" on DVD, you get a free movie ticket to "We Are Marshall" inside.

Took me a sec to see if you were talking to me! (need to use quote feature, silly).

I lived up near Lake Erie--right on the border to ohio. I always wanted to go to Penn State, but alas, college wasn't in the cards. (but I'll be going in the fall...just not to my beloved Penn State!)

I was incredibly disappointed with this movie.

Matthew Fox - loved
Matthew McCaughheeeyeyeye - not so much

I just found the dialogue to be forced, cheesy, and way too overblown on the emotion. I feel incredibly bad for saying that, as it was a horrible tragedy and real life event, but.... the movie missed the mark, imo.

The actors were almost trying TOO hard... especially the actor playing Ruffin. I just found it to be very distracting.

I can't imagine what it must have been like to be those four players and one coach, having to keep on playing football after your entire team was killed. Awful. :(

I really enjoyed this movie. I guess maybe you would have a different perspective if you played competitive football at some level. I really liked this movie, it was not just a movie about football, it was about how a team/community copes and moves on after a tragedy. I also did not see the actors trying too hard. I did some research on Nate Ruffin and this guy was a person who blead Marshall. Just look at where he is buried.

how would I have a different perspective if I had played competitive football? you just said it wasnt a movie about football, but about how a team copes with tragedies. I've played on competitive teams, and I understood the comraderie that goes on. Like I said in my above post, I couldnt imagine the pain those four players went through, having their entire team be killed. It is a tragic story, but it's awesome to know that Marshall really did rise from the ashes.

My displeasure for the movie had nothing to do with the story, but more so how it was acted.

Ironically, those who actually lived through this, including the two main coaches in the film (one lives in Surprise, Az), said the acting was right on and captured the emotion, etc.

I thought it was well-acted.

I thought Matthew Fox did an outstanding job, as did Matthew McConaughey. The one actor who I thought did not do that well was the one who played the kid who missed the plane due to oversleeping. His acting was forced, especially the scene where he tells Ruffin why he missed the plane.

Overall, I give this movie 3 stars out of a possible 4.

That's great.

I was sad to find out the real life Ruffin was not alive to see this film. Hopefully he would have liked it as well.

Just watched it with my 11 year-old son, we both loved it. The room got a little dusty during a few scenes. They did a great job of portraying the 1971 atmosphere, it felt like we were back there with them.

I completely agree. That scene made me cringe a little bit because it was so awkward. I thought every other character was outstandingly acted though.
