We have a #1 (LF), a #3 (ED), but no #2. the guy playing that position is no better than a #4. I'd try Sampson or Williams, before I'd let Roberts start. Enen Stuckey is better. JMO.

No, we just have a really bad QB who does not scan field and cannot throw WRs open. A lot of teams seem to be doing fine without a dominant #2 WR the caliber of Boldin. Heck, Matt Hasselbeck outplayed Kolb today when throwing to wide receivers from the bottom of the barrel.

Early Doucett is playing well this year. We also have King, Housler, and Heap.

At some point, you blame the playcaller and his lackey

I guess.

But there is no doubt that the talent isn't there. Letting Breaston walk was a horrible move by this team, and then to not sign another WR that has the talent to be a #2 in the NFL was an even worse one.

DeSean Jackson is a UFA this offseason. He used to play with Kolb. Hopefully that'll draw him here.......and money, of course.

Cheese, you ask if I'm just coming to this conclusion? The answer is no. Back in August, I started a thread titled, "Passing the Eyeball Test". Most of the responses stated either that Roberts would be okay or that we had a number of other options, see Timm Rosenbach, above. My take was that I was hoping that Sampson might be the man, but due, in part, to injuries, that hasn't happened yet. I'm still hoping. Benching Roberts would be a start.

We need a fast guy to stretch the field. I feel like we have no speed on our team.

I miss Boldin, with Fitz.
When trading him I thought we would use the cap space to improve the oline, or D.

Then again, I thought we were going to do the same thing when we let Dansby walk. Add Boldin, and Dansby, to this team and we are much better imo.

This is a good point. If you look at receiving stats across the league you'll see many teams where the #2 WR is a TE.

For years Boldin was our Owen Daniels/Dallas Clark/Vernon Davis. Now we need Heap and/or King to take that role. Something that was sorely missing last season.

I just want to mention that many times a lot of this stuff is complex and not just as simple as the play calling sucks or that the QB sucks.

It's always and everwhere in coaching and in competition about putting the right people in the right places to make things happen.

We tend to lose sight of this and it can be one or the other or both going wrong to mess this up.

There are a lot more paths to failure than to success and most of the time when failures like I'm seeing with this team occur it's because the overall team vision is weak and so people keep trying to achieve success with pieces that don't really fit or stick a round hole in a square peg.

You can do a little bit of that and be ok with a very strong vision but I just think we lack a very strong vision and we lack on the execution of that vision, it's both.

This is what leads us to use the 3-4 without the proper personell, this is what makes us think we can bring in Kolb and run CKW offense, this is what makes us think Levi Brown might actually get it someday, the beat just goes on and on.

Now eventually given time we'll probably accrue the right personell to begin to make the 3-4 work, eventually we might coach Kolb into our offense, eventually maybe we'll start having more hits in the draft.

I just don't really see it happening except by accident and that's not very likely.

However, it's like a fundamental law of football that when all esle fails if you can run the ball, do that, we should of run even more, because it was working and because it's basic and harder to screw up.

When your team is struggling and can run the ball it's not really struggling at all it's WINNING THE GAME.

So go ahead and win it that way, it's perfectly ok to do this.

Huh? Anderson really sucked. Kolb is not anywhere near as bad as that trash. Kolb's problem IMO is he doesn't take chances down the field often enough and it's very obvious that the dude doesn't know this offense. Kurt Warner even said he didn't grasp the offense right away and he is a HOF.

Don't be silly DeSean Jackson is a) young and b) never played for the Steelers. Hines Ward is a more probable solution to our number 2 woes for next year and I say this in all seriousness.

Andre Roberts was invisible. The Cardinals' No. 2 receiver finished the game with more tackles (one) than receiving targets (none). A penalty negated the only play featuring Roberts as a target. Kevin Kolb targeted three tight ends, two running backs and a fullback. He targeted receivers Larry Fitzgerald (11) and Early Doucet (six) a combined 17 times. Roberts has been targeted 15 times this season, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Seventy-three wideouts have been targeted more times through four games. The trend appears likely to continue as long as Fitzgerald is healthy, Doucet gets ample third-down work from the slot and multiple tight ends factor as well.

Sando on #2 WR

I would have taken Hines in a heart beat 2 years ago but now? I have been watching the Steelers games and he is now a slot possession receiver. He doesn't really go down field anymore. He occasionally gets open on a crossing route but most of his catches come from sitting down in the zone. It's not like the old days where he could run a great pattern and get away from you all the time.

Dude still had GREAT hands and is still one of the best blocking WR in the NFL bar none. Problem is the Cards need another receiver who can actually create separation and get open. Someone that the defense can't just ignore most of the time. I don't think that is Hines anymore.

Kevin Kolb needs to start spreading the ball around and quit staring down Larry Fitzgerald. Stop blaming other receivers. Doucet looked good before Kolb came to town.

If you're talking about how he looked in street clothes, you may be correct. If you're talking about him as a receiver then not so much. He really hasn't been healthy enough for us to make any real comments about the guy. I like him and think he can be a solid 2/3 if he stays healthy but right now, Kolb just isn't finding anyone not named Larry often enough to make this offense work.

meanwhile, Urban, the ridiculous shill that he is, writes an entire article about how much Roberts is contributing... without catching the ball. I just can't read Urban's stuff anymore. I know he works for the team, but he's got his tongue so far up the Cardinals' butt he can taste the toothpaste they brush their teeth with.

Any day now, we'll hear a rumor that the Cardinals are talking to both TO and Randy M. Our troubles are over.

I don't blame Roberts. If Kolb was throwing to him and he was dropping passes I would. The "he's not getting open" excuse doesn't cut it either because Kolb has thrown to others in coverage multiple times.

Doucet and Heap are sometimes on the same side of the field as Fitz. Roberts, as the #2, almost never is. I blame Robert's lack of targets on Kolb keying in on Fitz more then anything else.
