Sorry everyone. It is my fault we lost.

I received a phone call at half time from a buddy of mine who is a big 49er fan. He was at a sports bar in Miami watching the game. Shortly into our conversation, my three week old daughter started one of her crying/screaming episodes, so I told him I'd call him back shortly.

Well, the third qtr started and I didn't want the distraction of being on the phone while the game was going on, so I waited.

Finally, about midway throught the 4th quarter, us up by 16, I figure I can call him back. No answer. I call a second time, again no answer. This time, I leave a message, "Yo, I guess you cant hear your phone from all the Cardinal fans at the bar whooping it up over our big victory over the 49ers."

After it was over, my phone rang. I didn't answer and instead went to bed.

Sorry everyone, I lost this game.

BTW, before the end of the game, the 49ers already had an article on their official website about how the team lost to the Cards. I guess someone other than our defense wanted to go home early too.

Go Cards!!!

I had a similar exchange with my wife. Up by 16, I said "Now the Cards are 2-3 and tied for 2nd in the division with the Rams." Of course, the Cards go on to blow the game and the Rams come back and beat the Seahawks.

As a Red Sox, I should know better than to think ANYTHING is over before it's really over. I will now beat myself over the head with the nearest available 2 x 4.

Don't blame yourself, it was partially my fault.

My wife and I finally got some free dirt (no thanks to anyone on the board :D ), so instead of watching the entire game, I threw in a tape and went about unloading all of the dirt from the buckets in our truck to the backyard.

Came inside long enough to check the score every once in a while.

Finally done with the dirt, I came inside and got to watch the last quarter. With the score 28-12, I pulled out my Cards jersey so I could wear it to our evening church service...don't remember the last time I got to wear it after a road game...seems so long ago...:bang:

The rest is history... :computer:

7 minutes left in the game - my buddy in Phoenix calls me (a huge Cards basher) in delight telling me how awesome this team is going to be and that Denny has made him a believer and yada yada yada yada. I said one sentence to him: "There way too much time left" and hung up the phone and turned it off.

Two minutes after the game I checked my messages - one message same person . . . three words: "I'm an idiot."

Like Pacino said in Godfather III: Just when you think you're out, they pull you back in!

No I jinxed the entire team. I had to tape the game due to a prior commitment. So, I pulled out a tape to put in the VCR, and it was an old cards game. MAC was doing one of his locker room pep talks, in the pre game highlights. Lets see, we win a game, and are high on the hog. next game fall flat on our butts. Different year, same results. My first thought was Oh Crap, I just put the whammy on this game.

sorry guys, you're all mistaken it was my fault.

12 midnight, we're up 28-12, thought 'we cant lose this one' and went to bed. What a pleasant start to a Monday morning when i checked teletext to see the final margin of our victory.

Sorry guys and gals, I think it's my fault :( I was thinking about betting a huge load of doe on this game and when I didn't and we were crushing I was telling all of my friends I know I should have bet on this game! Even though all of them told me I shouldn't because anything can happen during a cards game :(

With 5 minutes left I uploaded a logo that I made called "Whine Cellar", showing the 49ers on the bottom of the division with an 0-5 record and a bunch of crushed Northern California grapes dripping on their team logo.

no

fault is entirely with the players - who didn't maintain the intensity that got them the lead, and the coaches - who did not motivate the players to maintain the intensity.

we lost the game because we are the Cardinals and until we prove otherwise - we will continue to lose these games.

Seeing us smiling and laughing on the sidelines with 7 minutes made me want to puke.

I'm sure I'll get slammed for this, but I clearly remember a certain blonde-haired kid without a care in the world at that point. Fitz was pretty happy also . . . it ain't over till it's over. I wasn't pissed at that point - but that is where the bad feeling in the pit of my stomach began to grow.

i think it was around that point where i made some stupid comment to cheese like, "and we finally have a ROAD victory!"

to his credit cheese responded, "no, we are winning on the road."

at that point i could do nothing but nod my head. the smile was still on my face. it shouldn't have been.

how did i not see it coming?

i accept my portion of the blame.

however, whoever put it all on the players is right. collectively all the kenahora (it's a jewish thing - like the evil eye) that we have listed here, at worst, contributed .5% to that loss, the rest of the 99.5% belongs to the cards.
