Yep. Hard to hit without bats. Need to be gritty winners too. Keep that in mind.

Yeah, only gritty players that dont mind being platooned and being moved in and out of position. That builds grit.

Mark Trumbo and I would give up Skaggs for him.

There is a serious void in the market for productive big-time bats...
Even Trumbo... He's good. But I don't see him as a game-changer and I wouldn't trade any young arms for him.
Having a legit outfield bat in the minors is worth the price of gold right now!

And the Angels were interested in Kennedy too, if he was available I'm sure he could have been gotten for Kennedy plus Skaggs.

EDIT: Just read the angels were listening to offers on trumbo... Maybe their asking price was too high. Heard KT say on 620 this morning he was interested in protecting the young prospects.

Didn't you hear? Kirk Gibson's "gritty" period ended when he announced recently that he wants them to hit more home runs.

Here we go again! No wonder the players look lost. They don't know who they are.

I'll say it again. It is BBADD. BaseBall Attention Deficit Disorder.

The irony of course being we have to be near the bottom of the league in getting a guy in from 3rd with less than 2 outs and hitting with runners in scoring position. Gritty winners indeed.

The sad reality is this... Any bat Arizona could have possibly got today or between now and the waiver feadline is going to have flaws or a high price tag. Could Arizona have got Trumbow? Sure.. But considerjng they turned down a offer from Pittsburgh that would have included Gerritt Cole, Luis Heridia, Allen Hanson and two other very respectable prospects, it would have cost Arizona a complete assassination of the farm. Other bats could be had for less like Rios, Schierholz (sic) and DeJesus, but are they any better tha what Arizona has now?

I still think there's a chance the Snakes could bring Adam Dunn or maybe even Chris Carter back by the waiver deadline; but you got two guys that strikeout at an alarming rate. While Dunn has grossly improved his OBP over the years, his batting average is still perennially below average.

Sadly, the good contact hitter power bats of the league aren't getting shopped.

I've said all along... Grit is great. Every team should have a dirtbag or two in their starting lineup. Yet, you aren't going to want to go to a Texas BBQ that serves only potatoes. You need the meat too.
