because this line is not going to get fixed in the next two years, EVEN if we know what we are doing to fix it because we need every dang position replaced outside of injured Coop. The point of setting up an offense with a pocket passer is complete lunacy under our conditions. Yes, Stanton is not the answer but Palmer is clearly not because he cannot move out of the cavalry charge bearing down on him most of the plays. You implement an offense which fits your personnel and not force one with a major deficiency that prevents it from working. In our current state, freaking Peterson would be better under center than Palmer

Seems as if all the QBs that end being successful in the NFL from college days are the mobile ones.

Yep, an elusive, mobile QB would not make this atrocious line look as atrocious. I don't want a run first type QB, but one who could at least get away from defenders or can take off down the field if nothing is open to keep the defenders honest.

Why can't it get fixed? You get copper back next year and make some moves to get a good LT in the off season

3 best QBs in the NFL, Brady, Manning and Brees none of them really run

One cannot fix a O-line in 1 year or even two when it is as bad as what we have currently. We have Cooper, fine...but there are four other positions lacking (why the hell we do not get Massie on the field is beyond me) and out LT situation is horrid. We are wasting players like Campbell, Peterson and Fitzgerald if we do not get this team a QB that has some mobility. If we draft any QB noted for being a pocket passer, expect losing. I cannot stand Manziel's character, but this running little cuss has just the right arrogance and mobility to fit the current situation of this line as it fixes itself in the coming years. I thought he would make a horrible pro but I have changed my opinion on him.

No, but he's limited when it comes to playing in the NFL.

As for the OP, a mobile-first QB will only take you so far. You have to have a QB that can beat you from the pocket if you want to win Super Bowls.

I forgot to mention Vince Young , and Tim Tebow , hmmmmmmm ,

Mike Vick belongs with those two. Wilson and Manziel are QBs who can throw well while running around. St.Vincent de Football couldn't do that as well once he got to the NFL. You want a QB who can throw well on the move not just a QB who can run. Some of the throws W and M make are unreal.

How much worse could Stanton be? He is more mobile, supposedly know Arians' offense so maybe he would not seem so confused or overwhelmed, strong enough arm to get it downfield and when looking at Palmer's current stats and accuracy... seems there isn't a lot to base your 'best chance to win' argument with an average of > 2 picks a game and how many that were only NOT picks because the WR's are better DB's than some of our DB's?

I'm all for starting Stanton. But come JC...you've been a fan long enough never to ask "how much worse could (insert whatever Cardinal back-up) be"? he'll probably be MUCH worse, but that could be somewhat entertaining for a little bit too. :)

LOL maybe in the 3rd or 4th round...

His stock is dropping according to espn. His accuracy and footwork has

been bad this year. Looked bad against Florida State. We may draft him

in the second round but I dont see it in the first. Some say he

is a shorter EJ Manuel
