None of this "let's wait till we lose a few games" because our number 2 is getting torched. It is the perfect storm, you have Peterson on one side which nobody wants to throw in his direction and the other side is then tailored made into a candy store for the opposing offense. We do not have to trade for a stud, there is probably a list of backups on other teams which could beat our number 2 corners and we need to get him now to assimilate them into the defense. We waited last year and then traded for Cooper... let's learn and do it now

I guess, they signed Tramon Williams but he is 34 and had a rough time in Cleveland but we do have cap space... I mean, can you imagine being on the defense and knowing that no matter how hard you try you have one side of field which negates your effort and then you have to go to whatever corner manning the position and try to constantly put the fire out

Let's kick the tires on what we have now! We have 5 preseason games, if a great cb was available at a Good price, we are still in competition with other teams - many other teams for cb - the sky ain't falling

No, footballs will be falling over the head of whatever corner we have opposite of Patrick because for the most part we already kicked those tires last season and then finally had to settle for some used Cooper tires lol

Haven't even played 1 pre-season game yet. No need to panic. Teams aren't going to give away starting caliber CB's anyway.

Wonder why they didn't look at Leodis McKelvin? Would have been better than Williams.

This thread could have been made every year for the past 5 years.
Opposite PP is going to be worse than last year.
Bethel can't cover a wall with paint....jk...but he sucks at CB

neither could Bethel or Williams... or Williams who was just brought in.

How is signing a CB who wants big money but sucks a good idea? It isn't, that is why he is available. I would rather grab a 53 cut CB. Than revis at the minimum.

He said nothing about Revis, but somebody more capable than what we are looking at now which every opposing team will be looking at with a huge grin saying, "I'm going to hit dat". I always though get optimistic as the season approaches and have to admit I am trying to jump on a feel good wagon after hearing Tramon Williams talk about joining the Cardinals but dang... would be nice to trade for another team's depth which might fare better than what we have been shown so far

Bethel played quite in the last 3,4 games when he was finally healthy.

for the love of God... people keep saying this and it just patently WASN'T true.

Against the Dolphins, he gave up that ATROCIOUS 30 yard moon-ball with like 30 seconds left... from a back-up QB... where he got completely spun around and was clueless which set up the game winning FG for the fins from inside the 10 yard line that officially knocked us out of the playoffs.

He was atrocious along with the rest of the D the next week as we gave up 48 points against the Saints in the next game.

He was mediocre at best knocking away a couple balls when he wasn't getting completely torched by Russel Wilson throwing for 350 and 4 tds.

And he and the rest of the D played well against the worst offense in the NFL. Great.

None of that = played quite well. It's revisionist history.

I still remember how Bethel made Jeff Janis looks like Megatron

his coverage on the first hail mary on 4th and 28, from inside Rodgers' own end zone was beyond embarrassing.

Zero instinct
Didnt have any clue where the ball was
He wasnt even a rookie but a 3year veteran
Starting him opposite to peterson may force our offense to score at least 30points/game

And the part about him not being healthy is irrelevant because he would still often be in great position but never turned around for the ball... his instincts are lacking with the ball in the air because he would be right there with the wide receiver and not prevent the catch

The team is set up to fail with Bethel at CB.
Teams can pick on him the entire length of the field.
It's been too long watching the 2nd CB be THE liability on defense.
Kevin needs to do something. Hoping Bethel or a guy who's played CB for one year is going to cover NFL WR #2 is beyond ignorant.
Then again he puts PP at punt return and he gets less than 1 yard per return.
