I say this because his biggest compitition Mr Dontrel is fading. His ERA is above 3 now and guys are starting to figure him out. Webb had still been good, a little tired maybe, but still effective. If he can get to 10 or 11 wins he will get it. He is still 4th in ERA and has had some bad luck lately with run support. He could easily be 10 and 3 right now.

pitching awards are just about one of the most whacked out awards in sports. the categories with the biggest weight are era and wins. i'm not saying randy's 5 cy young's don't count, as era is a legitimate standard. what i'm complaining about is that the win total has left a lot of very good pitchers disqualified, and it's a damn shame. if webb's win totals don't pick up soon, he's gonna lose this. even if his era is lower by a full point, i don't think that's gonna make up for 5 less wins than willis. the guys who vote don't care what your win total COULD be like.

The ROY award is a lot of media hype. The writers are going to go with the biggest story more-so than the best "young" player.

As much as Webb is/has been getting overlooked this year, I don't think it comes close to the ignorance over in the AL this year.

If you asked right now who would win the AL ROY you'd hear 1-2 names.

Hideki Matsui
Rocco Baldelli

Well here are three stat lines for rookies over in the AL:

.298/.356/.466 in 512 PA
.299/.330/.443 in 480 PA
.291/.345/.478 in 424 PA

#1 Is Matsui (CF/LF), #2 is Baldelli (CF), anyone know #3? (Hint: he's a SS)

You would be referring of course, to the excellent KC Royal rookie, Angel Berroa?

Brandon, too, has taken a step back in his past couple of starts.

I'd rather see the ol' Webb than 10 strikeouts a game and a rising ERA.
