It's hard to believe, but you almost can't say that anymore. Rasheed Wallace, Shaq, and now Webber have all gone east in the past year, and Okafor and Howard also look like solid big men. That's 5 quality bigs added to the east in just one short year.

Not that I'm complaining. That's good for us. :)

Not to mention Antoine Jamison leaving the West and Karl Malone retiring.

There are new faces like Gasol, Kirelenko/Boozer entering though.

And Amare/Randolph. Plus Odom plays some 4 doesn't he?

Can Iverson and Webber coexist? They both need the ball a lot.

I have an opinion that the young Suns (and of course SA) helped convinced the Maloofs that their window of opportunity had closed. Count me as one of the few who thinks Sacramento will get more contributions from their acquired players than Philly will get from Webber.

Actually, I think Webber can help the Sixers.

With AI the unquestionable superstar of that team, the pecking order is well defined. I doubt Webber will shoot as recklessly there as he was with the Kings where he was the "franchise player". Besides, he is now motivated to show the Maloofs what mistake that was to trade him. In the weak East, when he behaves and contributes the way the coach asks him to, they are a contender right away, up there with Heats, Pacers, and Pistons.

I wish y'all could be here in Sacramento to witness the squealing. There are two distinct camps, and they're both delusional:

- One group who thinks the Kings will be competing for a championship because a strengthened bench.

- One group who thinks the Kings will be clinging for the eighth seed by the time April rolls around.

I don't think the Kings can fall too far this season. They still have a strong group of four in the starting lineup ... and they definately have more depth than most. But that's a big chunk of scoring and rebounding from to lose from your starting five, and the Kings received no one that can replace it. Your depth is only as good as the five who receive the most minutes. It doesn't do you any good to get 40 points from your bench if you're only getting 45 from your starters.

It's definately the start of their rebuild. Peja will likely be gone after this season, Bobby Jackson may be gone and Bibby sounds like he'll start griping if he has to spend his prime years in a rebuilding process.

Didn't they post a better record last year without Webber than with?

That's the argument around here, but Bobby Jackson played 50 games last year and was a big part of their success. His absence was a big reason they faded in the playoffs.

Jackson's only played 24 so far this year and he's out at least until the playoffs -- and that's just their best hope. He's a great player off the bench, but he definately does not like playing in pain. I'm guessing his season is cooked.

Also Peja was an MVP candidate before Webber came back.

Just look at how JJ's career took off after we unloaded Penny.

I've never thought Webber was a winner. From the borderline mentally challenged time out to signing with Sac town for the big money after all his talk about playing in NY for a winner.....

I for one won't be surprised if the Kings post a better % now that he's gone.

Honestly, who really thinks Peja is a MVP???

He is probably the most one-dimensional player of all. His only job is to score and nothing else.

Some Kings fans have complained that Peja, at 6'10, can't rebound well, can't assist (well, he just shoots) and can't steal. If Peja can be a MVP, then Dirk is definitely up there. People tend to compare these two players and I don't see how Peja is better than Dirk... I just can't.

Anyway, I do believe Kings is in a deep rebuilding process. The core is broken up and we'll see what they do in summer.

Peja may be one dimensional, but he is really really good at that dimension if he is given the touches.

My guess is that the trade of CWeb reflects a switch to a Sun's style running game. Peja would score 30 a game in a Sun's style offense where he gets a lot of open looks on the break. He was simply not as effective when CWeb HAD to get his touches.

Just heard a very telling statistic of sorts today.

Kings without Webber in the lineup the last 2 years are 51 - 16.
Kings with Webber in the lineup the last 2 years are 38 - 31.

I am just glad that Webber is going to run into the same road block getting to the finals, Shaq. I do believe he and Iverson are going to make a very good tandem but not good enough to go very far in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
