Well your starters didn't run up the score tonight against USTA. Good sportsmanship! UofA wins 26-23. But I am a bit underwhelmed I must confess.

UTSA isn't a bad team, and I laughed at those who thought this would be a cake walk. Most of their front seven could start for a lot of Power 5 conference teams, and their tight end is very slippery.

We had a frosh QB making his first road start with less than a week off against a team that returned 20 starters and is very well coached.

Not much was riding in Anu's favor in this one.

For a guy who has been coined as being laid back, Anu certainly was getting rattled in this one. Made some questionable decisions, including on the safety.

This is why these first three games against mid majors is the best case scenario for us. Get the new guy broken in and ready to play against conferences foes while picking up wins.

Yes, UTSA is a good program now. New coaching staff and getting better every year. Rich Rod even knew that UTSA would be pumped up playing in the dome. Az went in and did their job by winning in a pretty hostile environment.

UTSA held Houston, one of the better offenses in the nation, to 7 points, at Houston last week. Totally humiliated them. It's easy for the casual college football fan to say, "It's UTSA, a C-USA team. UofA should've blown them out. They didn't; therefore, they suck." But there are very few Power 5 conference teams that want to play UTSA at this point for fear of what almost happened to us tonight. This is the first season UTSA is bowl eligible, and I fully expect they'll get a decent bowl this season.

As I said in my last post, UTSA had everything in their favor going into the game, but our level of talent was simply too much.

While I admire your guys' loyalty to your team and its players, this is just patently false. I'd encourage you to watch more UCLA games, but that's not going to change your opinion unless you take the maroon and yellow glasses off.

Hundley would have to take a step back and Kelly a step forward for these assertions to even be remotely true. "Middling" QBs don't throw for 68% completion, especially ones who throws a lot on the run.

Kelly is a great QB. You should be happy you have him on your team. But he's simply not as talented as Hundley.

I didn't say he was a middling QB; I said he is a great athlete with middling QB skills.

Plenty of scrubs throw for 68% in college bro. Look at all the spread QBs like Case Keenum that don't even approach their college completion percentage in the pros.

Hundley has been surrounded by much greater talent than Kelly. I bet any scout would agree with that assertion.

Nah, UofA doesn't suck because they barely beat UTSA, they suck because they suck. They'll still be a 6-6 or so team and go bowling because their schedule is a cake walk, but they showed a lot of weaknesses last night. Anu Solomon is going to be a good QB eventually for UofA, they're lucky to have a guy for 4 years, but he's not there yet.

You are aware that at the end of the season both of our schedules will be pretty close as far as difficulty goes right? And that Vegas has us pegged at 6.5 wins and you at 7.5?

I swear I must have fallen asleep and ASU turned into Oregon and UA turned into New Mexico State overnight the way some people on this board act.

You played Weber State and play UNM Saturday, both of which are worse than UNLV and UTSA. You get Notre Dame, but avoid Oregon. Our schedules are pretty similar in terms of difficulty, so I wouldn't go boasting around about SOS if I were you. I also fail to see how this team is 2 wins worse than last season with better offensive weapons (even with taking Carey out of the equation) and more experienced defense. 7-8 wins for UofA is not unreasonable. Same outcome is not unreasonable for ASU, either. We absolutely have our deficiencies, mostly on defense, but we haven't even finished OOC games, so it's way too early to ascertain anything.

At the end of the day, it's just one game. Stanford struggled to beat Army last season and then plastered ASU twice on its way to the Rose Bowl. It's not like this is a new phenomenon.

Kelly is an above average quarterback with a great offensive line. He is an excellent QB for our system and runs one of the best offenses in the country very efficiently. However he doesn't have the arm strength to play in the NFL. He also tends to take off and run before going through all of his progressions. He also has Jaelen Strong who catches passes that might be intercepted against a lesser receiver.

Brett Hundley has great arm strength and reads the defense much better. Hundley almost always spots the open receiver and makes the correct throw. The UCLA offensive line is horrible. ASU had 9 sacks on them last year and Virginia and Memphis have torn them up this year. It has forced Hundley to evade pressure. He looks to complete a pass on the move, more than run the ball outright.

I am happy with TK, he will go down as one of the most successful ASU QB's in history. He is a team captain, local leader and an all around good person. Very glad we recruited him as a 2-star player and Graham/Norvell really helped develop him into the player he is.

I am not sure Kelly would be successful in UCLA's offense, while I am sure Hundley would be as good or better in ASU's offense.
