Any particular reason why ASFN has been down most of the day?

There was some big blown fuse down in Deru's data center...

"The data center uses a conditioned 3-phase electrical system, and one of the fuses was blown. This required the building manager to get a certified electician onsite to replace the fuse and restore power. They are onsite currently and we hope to have the power restored soon."

Of course, that was at 2pm...

Took them a long time.

I'm shocked there is no generator backup or whatever.

The Vortex!
It's not too complicated to change a fuse. Electricity is either flowing or not , kind of like water.
I would really like to see the certificate the certificied electrician had.
I bet it's the certificate that says the property manager didn't have a spare fuse and didn't know how to change one even if he did.

Spares and dedicated back ups are a way of life in my business.
I'm amazed how many businesses (sp) do not conduct their business in that manner.

Actually, now that the power is back up, the server seems to be crashing after it reboots and runs for awhile. they are working on it...

I meant, "[Shall we try] Godaddy, anyone?"

:)

I was agreeing with you. :)

On a more serious note, has anyone else noticed that the ASFN clock appears to be about 5 minutes off, or is it just me?

Yeah right.

I haven't had any downtime in the 10 months that I have had them.

This has been the first one we've had in a good long time, and it was obviously a power outage or failed fuse that did it.

The server probably turning off like that might have ended up with a few issues, so that's probably the reason we had some ups and downs.

I'm not at home to check my mail right now, I'm sure they emailed me something about it.

They think our server is getting too hot, at 7pm tonight, expect a 20 minute downtime while they move it to a cooler room.

bump

ASFN has been down about 20-30 minutes at a time in the morning two days in a row.
