Nice write-up. Thanks!! Watson seems like a guy to watch on Saturday. Hopefully he doesn't overdo it.

Not really. As a pure pass rusher?

1. J. Peppers, CAR
2. M. Strahan, NYG
3. L. Little, STL
4. M. Williams, HOU

Rounding off the Top 10 are guys like Chris Kelsay (BUF), maybe Greg Spires (TB). The problem with Chike is that he's small, and so you can run right at him, and you have to take him out on obvious run downs.

I'll take Kelsay over Chike.

KVB?
Does Merriman qualify as LDE?
Does D. Ware?
I'm go out on a limb and say Mario Williams is a better pass rusher. I know he's big and disruptive against the run, but he can still rush better than Okeafor.
Udeze from Minn.

Heck, I'm not even sure all these guys are LDE. But they are just a few of the players that come to mind.

No way, no how, is Okeafor one of the "best" or "better" pass-rushing LDE's in the league.

Over the last three years he has averaged 8 sacks a season. He got 8, 8.5 and 7.5 last year. I'd be very surprised if that total is not top ten in the league over that time span for a LDE. Which is not the glamor rush position.

Merriman and Ware are OLBs, so no, they don't qualify as DEs. I have Mario Williams on the list. He's Number 4.

Kenechi Udeze had 1 sack last season in 3 starts. His rookie year, he had 5 sacks in 16 starts. I like Udeze, but right now I think that Okeafor is a better player.

KVB's had one good full season in his career. At least Chike's consistent.

I checked. All my guys are LDEs. If you're going to call me out, then have some ideas to refute what I'm saying. I think that Adawalye Ungulele in Chicago is better than Chike. That's another obvious one.

Honestly, as one of the better pass-rushing LDEs in the NFL, Okeafor should be smoking Wakefield. It'll be interesting to see/hear how Wakefield handles run blocks.

The thing I like about Chike is his intelligence and veteran savvy. As opposed to Berry who is rush the passer first ask questions later, Okeafor is smart enough to sense that a screen or draw is coming and back off the rush to pick up the running back. He ain't flashy, but he's solid IMO.

Ogunleye. Is this list just based on Pass rush skills. If so, we don't know as of yet how Mario Williams will translate to the NFL as a pass-rusher, especially in a D that uses a decent amount of 3-4 (see what it did to Shaun Ellis and his sack numbers). I know Kearse hasn't impressed of late, but he is still a pretty good pass-rusher and Kelsay stinks. Has ever broken 5 sacks? I hope you were talking about Schobel. You left off Robert Mathis, Derrick Burgess (the reigning sack leader), Lance Johnstone, Will Smith, Kerney, and Hayward. I'll assume those guys were in or around the top 10 and you just didn't mention them.

They are transitioning to a 4-3 defense. Was just watching some of their training camp on NFL Network.

I know, but they are still going to use some 3-4, like the Jets did last year. The Jets would either stand up Bryan Thomas or Abraham. I think for the Texans though, with their talent on the DL the 4-3 is definately the best move.
