PS: how sick did DJ look? His cuts are amazing, the dude is a straight baller. I was worried if it would transition into this year and so far, so good.

Hopefully Mathis is ready to play this weekend as Tampa bay has a FAR more powerful offense than new england brought here last night.

I think he looked fine, but after the 45-yard run did he have much? 3.0 YPC. The 4 receptions for 43 yards was a nice cherry on top.

I think that you will be able to use David Johnson to sustain an offense most of the time, but as Collinsworth was saying, the Pats are so big and strong up front that it was hard to make creases in the middle of the field. I think that'll also be a problem against St. Louis (for different reasons).

It's disappointing that we were never able to unlock Alan Branch and turn him into a useful player.

I didn't get Collinsworth last night on how good DJ is at avoiding hits. He kept saying something like 107 touches and 24 guys made miss, where did that come from he had 125 rushes and 36 catches last season and 22 KOR's so that's 183 touches. And I gotta believe he made more than 24 guys miss last year so where was that stat from?

I kind of assumed that but he never made it clear what criteria they were using because he had way more touches than he was saying so which ones counted and which didn't, and why?

There was one run early where he tried to bounce it outside and lost yards but then later on he did the same thing and had the big run so you can't tell him not to be himself and frankly the way the inside was blocking I'd take runs outside too.

I thought his pass blocking was better last night too.

I am pretty sure it was AE on one of the sacks where he stood still and ducked his head and the defender went right by him and hit Palmer. At least try/

I would add Jaron Brown on the list for honorable mention, even if his appearance seemed limited. The guy probably played at most ~10 snaps, but he enters the game on the final drive without making a catch and then, like a true consummate pro with ice in his veins, catches the go ahead first down that sets us up for the (failed) game-winning FG.

Not sure many teams in this league can rely on their WR4 to come into a game, at the most critical juncture, and catch the ball without any nerves. We should see more of him in the next week or two as our other Brown is still working back to full speed from his concussion.

#1 Goat = defense players tackling someone, ANYONE, at any point in the game. It was death by 1000 cuts.

Don't forget the interception he broke up, too. I hope he gets more time next week, too.

Palmer wasn't great, but he certainly wasn't a goat. He led the team down the field for what should've been the game winning go-ahead drive (putting the Card up 21-20). And he then led the team down the field giving Catman the chance to win the game. The offense converted 50% on third down. No way he can be listed as a goat.
As for Floyd, your points are solid. My issue with him is that he believes he is/can be a legit #1 WR. Ain't no way...

Only nitpick is you can't punish a RB for avg 3.0 ypc. If you take his big run away..... I hate when People do that because the 3 and 4 yards he gets is punishing and setting up defenders For those big runs.... Barry Sanders was exactly that way.... Gaining 5 yards a carry on every carry doesn't happen anymore.... And if it did... You would never pass if a RB could just gain 5 yards everytime he touched it.... That big run usually demoralizes defenses because they are like man we just couldn't continue to contain him.... DJ is a beast.... And ill take 3-4 yards for 6 carries and a 20+ yard For 1 carry.....

First of all, he SHOULD believe he can be a #1 or he wouldnt be in the NFL.

Second of all, has he said things alluding to that? Or is it just your speculation? He has always kept his mouth shut from my perspective, never heard him claiming he is a #1 or should be a #1.

First of all... I agree he should believe he is capable of being a #1. Second of all... my issue is that some time between now and next season, this will reach a cross-roads and he will have to accept the reality that he is not a #1, or some other team will grossly overpay him...

But where are you getting that he thinks he is a number 1? This seems like all pure speculation. I am sure other teams will offer him more than we will regardless of what he thinks about himself.

A guess would be if he did NOT believe he was a #1 and deserves to be paid like one, he'd have already agreed to a new deal?

Spotrac guesstimated an extension for him would be about 4 years 33 million so 8.25 per year. They are comparing him to guys like Crabtree, Torrey Smith and at the high end Jeremy Maclin who makes 11 million per.

I guess we don't know if the Cards actually want to extend him or not they have a tough situation Fitz and him will both be Free agents and we have to sign John Brown too and with his concussion situation that could be a very difficult wait and see decision. So it's entirely possible Floyd hasn't signed an extension through entirely no fault of his own, it may simply be the team wanting to wait and see.

I can't recall the specific interview, but last year I can remember him making a statement that he believes he is due #1 money. Coupled with the fact that the Cards have not chosen to extend him, or have tried and failed, seems to suggest that this is likely Floyd's last year with the Cards...unless of course he agrees to a very realistic contract.

Fitz was extended thru the 2017 season at $11 million.
And I really don't see Floyd at a Maclin level...
