I can't recall the specific interview, but last year I can remember him making a statement that he believes he is due #1 money. Coupled with the fact that the Cards have not chosen to extend him, or have tried and failed, seems to suggest that this is likely Floyd's last year with the Cards...unless of course he agrees to a very realistic contract.
ive never heard him say anything like that

Not choosing to extend and try/fail is all speculation

Tavon Austin just got a 4 year $42 million contract extension. Floyd should be able to easily beat those numbers.

I looked and the spotrac projections I used were from Feb so probably before everyone knew how much higher NFL salaries were going to go. So Floyd could bring in even more.

He's a good player again without him we would not be as dangerous on offense, but it's a very iffy situation because he's been around long enough that you can pretty much assume he's not going to suddenly become consistent.

I think John Brown's health is a HUGE factor in how we handle Floyd, if the Cards think Brown will be fine, they may tell Floyd sorry we think Austin got overpaid and we're not overpaying you. If they are concerned about Brown's long term viability, they might overpay to keep Floyd.

First of all... I agree he should believe he is capable of being a #1. Second of all... my issue is that some time between now and next season, this will reach a cross-roads and he will have to accept the reality that he is not a #1, or some other team will grossly overpay him...

There are a number of teams where he would be a #1 receiver. I don't understand this bolded part, at all. Would you turn down a massive pay increase because you'd be "overpaid"?

I don't see the Cardinals paying Michael Floyd what he will be offered in the free agent market. It isn't that he is not worth it, but I believe he will be in a situation where he will be more valuable to another team than he will be to the Cardinals. That can always change, but at this point in time, it is what I believe. The market has elevated the cost of free agent wide receivers. that is the new normal. To combat that, I would tend to look towards drafting WRs instead because college is producing wide receivers at a very high level right now.

Interesting that BA apparently criticized MF15 for running wrong routes or not being in sync with CP3? I only heard snippets of it on radio this morning on the drive to work.

I liked what I saw from Gunter. He looked like a legitimate 3-4 DE. I haven't read why Mitch believes he struggled.

Thought his pad level was too high and on too many plays he got stood up and rocked a little back on his heels. It showed up in his stat line...0 tackles, 0 assists, 0 sacks.

I will have to go back and watch. I got a very different impression.

Like I said, I have little doubt that there are other teams that would try to secure Floyd as their #1. In so doing, offering him more money than he's actually worth...thus, "overpaying." And good for him if he gets it. However, I am willing to say that after his time here in the desert, any team that makes him their #1 will ultimately regret that move - with respect to his production on the field (or lack thereof) and the financial investment they made in him.
He is a solid #2 and requires an even more solid #1 to be remotely effective. For whatever reason, all too often he drops balls and runs incorrect routes. I would never suggest the doesn't have all the physical tools... Physically, he's all you want in a wideout. But he's a career #2 at best...

i have a hard time calling Palmer a goat

24/37 271 2td, no ints

when they needed a TD late, he got them one

when they needed a FG late, he put them in very makeable range

his last pass for 18 yards was clutch to get them to the 29

this team is in bad shape if it needs perfect QB play to win

You mean the same line that Robert Nkemdiche had, one less tackle than Josh Mauro, and two less tackles than Corey Peters?

But you're saying that he needs to come to this "realization" (I assume) because it's in his best interests, or something. I don't really think it matters.

Honestly, he'd be the #1 WR on 8-10 NFL teams right now. I don't think you need to be the #1 WR on every team in the NFL to be considered a #1. Almost every WR in the NFL would be better if they had a superior player taking attention away from them—including Larry Fitzgerald, who benefits from Floyd and Brown drawing attention away from him.

The bolded is an assertion without any evidence.

Look... in the NFL, players play in hopes of getting "paid." So I'm not into asserting what I believe are a players' best interests... Sure, I think Floyd would have a better, more productive career as a solid #2 alongside a star #1, versus going out and getting paid for being an underperforming #1. But that's his choice... his decision and frankly, if it were me, I'd go for the money as well!

Again, I'm not at all contending the reality that he may very well end up becoming a #1 on some other team. I think it's pointless to speculate the number of teams he "could be" a #1 on...as it just takes one team to make the move. And I would be surprised if no other team does just that next year.
For the record, Larry put up Pro Bowl seasons with puss at QB and guys like Andre Roberts, Early Doucet and Jerehme Urban as his supporting cast...
As far as the comment you bolded being an "assertion"... welcome to ASFN. :raccoon:

I bet if he was a clear cut #1, he would do very well for someone.

I think, by the end of the year, people will consider Floyd a must sign.

I think a team will pay Floyd like a #1--

SF or SD come to mind as two teams where Floyd is a gigantic upgrade over what they have now.

with todays wr salaries... IMO Floyd is worth 4 years and about $45m with around 30 guaranteed.... but somebody out there will give him 4 years at $55mil or more..... much more if we manage to win a SB this year.
