Something very bad is about to happen with our Arizona Cardinals. Yes, the season is over and you're going to see a bunch of players (Byron Murphy, Zach Allen, Darrel Williams) make business decisions about their availability or start efforting outside the scheme because they need to put big film on tape or protect their bodies for pending free agency.

But also Michael Bidwill is entering the Expensive Money phase of his stewardship of the franchise. That dumb jet and even dumber helicopter won't pay for themselves, and the fuel won't get cheaper. Stadium upgrades will have to be financed at interest rates that are perhaps double what they were a few years ago. At the same time, attendance will likely decline because the on-field product is total garbage.

Under the past decade of Michael Bidwill's leadership, money was extremely cheap and the Cardinals could likely borrow whatever additional funding they needed secured by future earnings without paying much of a price. Now, Michael likely won't be as warmly received by his siblings if he comes asking to take out a loan to finance another round of signing bonuses or the severance packages for another group of coaches.

Greg Dortch, WR - He's not the featured receiver on a good team -- or even a bad one. What Greg Dortch can be is the kind of tremendous value as a fourth receiving option on a good offense -- think of Hunter Renfro or Cole Beasley. Dortch keeps producing when given even the smallest chance.

Colt McCoy, QB - ESPN was doing everything it could to develop the narrative that the Cards are better with Colt and he should be the starter. Colt is marginally better than my guy Drew Stanton. He isn't going to be able to lead a good offense; the best he can probably do is get dragged along to a playoff berth by a great defense. The Cards don't have a great defense.

Marco Wilson, CB - Marco was active again, leading the team with two passes defensed to go with three tackles. He's probably the best-developed defensive player that Keim has had since Budda Baker. Extend him for five years now.

James Conner, RB - Last week Conner made Football Outsiders' Top 5 RBs list for his efficiency. This week he averaged 3 yards per carry. He's just not a starting RB in the NFL right now. Especially when you fold in his 40% catch rate including a big 3rd down drop.

Lecitus Smith, G - Kelvin Beachum is doing his best in an impossible situation. He has a rookie late-round pick playing on one side and no help from a TE on the other (because he's dedicated to helping Josh Jones and is also a rookie). The ESPN crew was throwing shade at the holes this offensive line has failed to open in the run game yearlong, but Smith failing to block an interior rusher was a stuff film.

Kliff Kingsbury, HC - Kliff had a fine game plan through the first half. His playcalling was fine. He's a goat because at 13:14 in the fourth quarter and the Cards down 21 points, he elected to go for it on 4th down from the midfield line. The attempt failed. He should've sent Prater out to attempt the 67 yard field goal.

This game is what happened when a team has all week to scheme against him. I said it before, Colt is who he is, and he showed it against SF and Carolina last year when he was schemed against.

He was hurt and still tried to play. All that you can ask your QB to do. Was he going to leave this game in the hands of McSorely even being the uphill battle it was going to be?
Everyone is hurt this time of year.

I also really question whether or not Bidwill is willing to eat the cash that would come from firing Keim and Kliff.

Well and that’s the thing. It’s not really up to him. When you listen to @MaoTosiFanClub you hear pretty consistently that Michael has to work with the other kids.

How are you going to pitch a $10 million sunk cost (and I think that’s conservative) that you just took on the previous year and we’re immediately humiliated over?

Colt as a hero? You have lost it.

Really like your takes most of the time DCR, but I'm going to disagree here. It's not unreasonable to say Colt is a hero for agreeing to even go out there.

It was only a matter of time until SF routed our weak defense. The powerful Debo and Kittle are like our worst nightmares.

Down by 14 and then 21, and with that O-line protecting him, the only thing that was going to happen was that Colt was going to take some punishment, and that really sucks. McCoy took one for the team last night.

Pretty mad at the franchise right now.

Anyway. Hope you're otherwise doing okay today, and that you have a good holiday.

very curious to know how the Mike and other kids dynamic. Do they care about the team, or, simply demand that their annual $Xmm dividend gets paid on time?

Given the value of franchises -- at some point you would think that at least one of them is going to find the dividend less appealing than 25% of $4 to $5 billion. Sure, Mike gets all the trappings of being an NFL owner -- but if you are Nicole, Tim or Bill Jr (who Mike beat out for the top job) --I suspect the money sounds pretty good.

The Broncos sale came about as a result of a family food fight --- curious if one is brewing with the Bidwills or not

Colt is good when you think Kyler is going to play and he doesn’t. If you scheme for Colt he is terrible. He literally says hike I’m throwing here no matter what.

Its more like £30m total but I don't think it's the money that will stop it but ego.

Like you say, it would be humiliating. As any coach or GM ever been fired before an extension kicked in? Never mind both.

Pretty sure he'd rather the team suck than be that guy.

Only pick in two games bounced off Conners hand. So your point makes no sense.

I don't see how going out there and playing poorly, injured or not means that you are a hero. But hey, to each their own.

Isn't leadership putting the needs of others over the needs of yourself?
Going out there and playing poorly while not being 100% is a sign of leadership? If so Kyler is a dictator.
