Offense: 66 Plays
1. Some of the spread are a bit off this week as we played a few back-ups late in the game. Most notably, Stanton was in for 12 plays, along with a few plays by Boehm & and Wetzel. Though it would be awesome to have all backups get lots of play-time due to blow-out wins... unlikely.
2. David Johnson's "only" had 41 plays from scrimmage, down a full third vs. last weeks 58. 21 of those extra snaps went to Chris Johnson this week, who surprisingly received one more hand-off than DJ. Andre contributed on another 6. It also appears we scrapped the two RB Backfield this week, using the alignment on only one play.
3. Fitz, Floyd, and John Brown all saw a reduction in playing time this week. I think Fitz was due to the score. Jaron Brown picked up some of those extra plays, going from 28% of the offense to 42%. Nelson was inactive.
4. Part of the WR reduction was due to us going with a bigger line-up. Fells saw his play increase from 38% to 68% on offense. Gresham and Niklas (who had a monster hit) both stayed steady at 36%.
Defense: 79 Plays
1. Of course everyone knows that Cooper took 82% of the D snaps in place of Brandon Williams' 34% (previously 100%). Obviously that was the right call.
2. I'd normally joke that PP got a bit of rest tonight, playing only 84% of downs; however, he was targeted a remarkable 17 times. How many games did he play last year that he was targeted that many times combined?
3. Watching the game, I didn't realize that the Honey Badger was only in on 67% of downs vs. playing every snap last week. Swearinger seems to have been the beneficiary of the increased opportunity by going from 8% to 38%.
4. Calais continues to be the workhorse of the DL; however, he was only in for 61% of plays vs 83% last year. Stinson was activated this week and received the second most plays on the DL at 44%, which was about what Frostee contributed the week before. Mauro and Williams both got a bit of playing time this week as well, benefitting from an increased DL rotation and available garbage time experience.
5. Bucannon and Tony Jefferson were the only two players who played the entire game. Playtime for the LB corps remained consistent with week one, though Alan Fua got his first (and) only action of the season (excluding ST) during one play against Tampa. Oakafor doubled his participation from 7 to 14 plays.
That's about it.
