Weird. It's almost like PFF grades are meaningless by any measure and not really correlated with outcomes.

It's hard to harp on cards when they're 4-0, but Vance Jospeh is treating Collins exactly the way he treated Simmons last season. I wonder how Keim reacts to this behind the scenes since he anointed Collins starter after draft. VJ sends message to Keim 2 years in a row?

Im not too concerned about Collins. I want to see him play mostly because we should be sure in what we have before the season ends. But doesnt hicks call the defense? That would include audibles right? Maybe Zaven just isnt quite there yet... maybe he cant look back at Thompson and tell him he needs to move up five yards for this defense.

you could be right though... maybe VJ didnt like steve keim firing his starting ILB via media on draft day....as long as that pissing contest keeps us a top 5-10 defense though Im okay with it.

I have no problem with Hicks over Collins. Hicks has been pretty good overall and probably just better than Collins right now.

I also don’t think it has anything to do with a Keim/ Vance disagreement. That’s just fan board speculation and nothing to back it up.

Tin foil hat time. There is a reason Vance played Hicks 100% of defensive snaps in a game the Cards had under control for almost the entire game. Vance and Keim do not see eye to eye and it seems to be a bit of a pissing contest.

It's no different than Simmons last year. I think they feel they have a blueprint on how to handle the Collins.

the Cards played a ton of two DL, 4 LB (this counts Chan Jones and Golden as LBs) , 5 DB sets --

so for the two ILBs vs the Rams -- i would want experience vs McVay with all the misdirection, etc

I think he sends the same message that BA would send regarding some rookies..When they're ready to play, they will play..

Imagine if we had 5 colts McCoy’s on the o line, cardinals would have gotten 300 yards rushing.

Ultimately, you just can't convince me there wasn't more reps in a game we were up by 20 for most of the 4th Q. Part of developing a team is getting players reps when you can. It is what it is at this point.

Vance's final decision is informed by an ILB coach whose task is to evaluate how well the rookie is assimilating the necessary tasks.

I really wouldn't worry about Zaven Collins. He will likely end up with 600+ snaps on the year. The defense is playing well. He's getting enough experience and playing well when he is on the field.

It's the right way to do it.

Cool fun football take! I swear, for someone who accuses others of being miserable, you’re not full of sunshine and flowers during on the of best four-game stretches in Cardinal history.

I endorse Vance Joseph putting Keim in a clown suit; Zaven Collins should probably be getting more reps based on his draft status. It’s not unimaginable that he sucks in practice. It’s a big step up from the AAC and the defense prolly isn’t centered around him the way it was at Tulsa. That’s the problem with taking a bunch of Swiss Army Knife types. Sometimes you just really need a spoon and you have a drawer full of forks.
