4-0 in the division
3-5 all other games

The Cards are the beneficiaries of being in the suckiest division in the NFL. They are who I thought they were, the best of some of the worst. I think 9-7 is where they will end up, beating the Rams and Seahawks (see the refrain of not making ugly spins on the names? Someone said "Cowqueers" somewhere...c'mon now) and losing the others.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner for the NFC West Champion Cardinals. Love it, hate it, it is the way it will be. Personally, I will love it and enjoy a home playoff game!

It is the modern result of parody in pro sports masquerading as parity.

I understand. But, I will celebrate teh NFC WEst Championship.

Agreed.

The fact we will win the division and make the playoffs is a huge step. Everything else is just gravy.

I understand Stout's frustration. But I don't see why so many are so surprise with the current situation.

At what point did this team transcend to the level where they were going to be this 12 win NFC force to be reconed with ??????

Sorry, I have thought since week 5 this team is as good as they are against Dallas, and as bad as they are against the Jets. They had a good shot at that point to win 9 or 10 games, and they still look like they have a shot at winning 9 or 10 games.

Whatever happens in the playoffs is gravy in my book. I am going to enjoy it. This team is better then it was last year, and this team is WAY better then anything I have seen in 20 years.

To not enjoy the things happening in this season would be a mistake. To take the success the Cardinals have had for granted is just wrong.

I don't see where this team is sad, pathetic, or worthless. Sorry that is just a gross dramatization of the current situation. We are not the Rams, Raiders, Lions, or Chiefs.

We are gong to win the NFC west, which is a very weak division. But this is exactly what Seattle has done for 5 years. So, say what you will it is an accomplishment.

Furthermore, anyone who wants to talk about our schedule should realize we play two of the hardest divisions in football in the NFC east, and the AFC east.

I understand that some are not happy with anything less than a Superbowl, and that is fine.

Some like me are happy with the division title and realize what a big step it is.

Well, said Rugby...

I'll take WINNING over Losing anyday! I think people forget what the Steelers were BEFORE Bradshaw & Noll; the 49ers BEFORE Montana & Walsh; the Giants BEFORE Taylor & Parcells. EVERYTHING has a beginning. I for one am going to ENJOY seeing that 1st-ever division banner hanging in the rafters. It's a beginning. A GOOD one! Life is about "moments". To miss the GOOD moments along the way is just sad! Truth is, ONLY (1) team will WIN the Super Bowl this year. (31) other teams and their fans will be disappointed. So, appreciate the GOOD "moments". Did I mention we BEAT THE COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I'm very happy with the division win and hosting a playoff game... consider the alternative.

There are tons of things to improve, no denying it but we are heading in the right direction.

A few more blue collar type players. A new DC. Re-signing some of our key players. I believe we will continue to improve. Next major monkey is winning consistently on the road, especially in the east!

I like how Duckjake said it in another thread. This isn't the BCS (Bull Crap System). It doesn't matter who you beat, how you beat them, or what public perception is. Winning by a score of 3-2 is just as good as 66-0. Once you are in the playoffs, you have a shot and 20 other teams don't.

Personally, I can't wait for that home playoff game, I don't care what our record is. I'll get chills when the team hits the field. Hell, I might even get a little misty. 21 fricking seasons I've waited to go to a playoff game in our house. No loss during the regular season, and no number of people writing us off and downplaying it, is going to steal that moment from me. God might take me off this Earth before that, but nothing else is going to take it away from me.

The Cards should be proud of getting to the playoffs.

I think that they can win a first round home game.

With a rotten defense and non-existant running game, it will be almost impossible to win a second round game.

How sweet this team would look right now if they had taken Chris Johnson at running back instead of DRC!!!!

Amen. Bring on the fun. I've waited 20 years for this. I'm going to enjoy the frickin hell out of every second of it. This team rocks and its our time fly high. Let someone else eat the crap sandwich in January. We've had our fill of that.

It wouldn't make a difference in our running game since the run blocking is poor and our QB is the slowest in the league to hand the ball off.

That and we'd have Eric Green starting for the entire season. No thanks

The Cards have had a 137 yds rushing in the past 4 games. That's 34.2 yds per game. That is not going to win you any playoff games.

What bothers me the most is there seems to be no problem with that for the coaching staff. The Giants and Eagles have shown how you contain the offense. We will see the same kind of defenses the rest of the year and unless they can get a ground game established every remaining game will be a struggle. Warner has been a turnover machine in the last 2 games.

I believe the Warner we have seen in the first 10 games is gone for the year. We will now be seeing the Warner of the last 2 games for the rest of the season.

This team has plateaued or even regressed. The running game has gotten worse instead of better. I don't think it matters who is at RB.

This offensive line just can't run block.

I'm happy. I've been a fan since 1960 and have never seen the Car*s play at home in the post season. I'll be ecstatic when they clinch the division.

Nobody gave the Car*s even a snowball's chance to advance in '98.

So what if our team has huge flaws? Getting to the post season is what the NFL is all about.

Very funny - I just got it, Cardinals with NO "D".

Thank goodness some fans have learned to enjoy a good thing. From the tone of many posts around here, it is like some people would rather the Cardinals not make the playoffs after last week's lose. Yes, it was bad, and not much fun to deal with. But it is one game, that will mean nothing come playoff time.

What, we should be doing cartwheels instead? Facts are facts--we aren't that good. We're a middling team in an awful division. Can anyone dispute that at this point?

The following quote from your earlier post is not "fact" but "opinion", self-aggrandizing at that.

"This team has ZERO chance to make the NFC championship game. ZERO, NONE, and anyone who thinks they do has absolutely zero knowledge of pro football."

Fair enough. Technically, statistically, there's always a chance. Do you think we have one?

Why does so many of the posters here not get this?

Oh, they do, but you want to ignore it. I've said it over and over again: I'M OVER THE MOON at the progress we've made, and that we'll have a home playoff game. I can't help that you can't be around me when I brag to people about my team. You just keep ignoring it when people say this. You know, we ARE allowed to be thrilled about what we've gained and still complain about the lack of progress we're showing. It is possible.

That is where many of the "darksiders" lose perspective. We are progressing into a good football team. We are not in the elite group although many were trying to put us in that class over the last couple of weeks.
When the pundits start to put us in that group, it makes reality hurt a little and thus we all must endure the darkside explosion.

We have progressed; at this point, we are not progressing. We're now treading water. We keep making the same mistakes over and over again, and keep relying on our same strengths. Over the past several weeks, what progress have you seen? Significant progress showing that the team gets it and is improving?

Not you specifically Stout ,but there are many that seem unsatisfied with just winning the division at this point. If we were the Steelers, PAtriots, Giants or the other perrenial winners, I could understand it.
It seems many would be happy if we went 10-6 and not make the playoffs as long as we could say we are a better team than the current perception.

Nice evasion, which I assume means you don't :)

Never assume... and how you could come to this conclusion given the quote is passing strange. Logically, if anything, it would say the opposite.

Every time we take the field we have a 50/50 chance of winning.

...will get just that, and ONLY that. This team has only a slim chance to advance in the playoffs, because of home field advantage. I doubt we will, but it's possible. This team has ZERO chance to make the NFC championship game. ZERO, NONE, and anyone who thinks they do has absolutely zero knowledge of pro football. This team is a fraud. We've been angry all season that we haven't gotten enough credit, because people were saying we'd win the division only because it was the NFC West. That's exactly the only reason we're going to end up winning it. We'll probably clinch this weekend because San Fran will probably lose. Sad.

Carolina, N.Y. Giants, Washington...at home and on the road. We beat the Cowgirls at home, yeah. That's why we have some shot of beating a playoff team at home in the 1st round. It's also why we have ZERO shot of winning past that.

We're obviously not getting the #2 seed, so we won't have a 2nd home game. Let's take our meager gain and hopefully have a great offseason. Fire Clancy, shake some sense into Haley, bolster the O-line, cull the defensive fat, be aggressive in FA and the draft, and get Leinart in there so we can have a more balanced game. A daunting offseason task, to be sure, but a much brighter future than we've had before.

Sorry to say that being satisfied has nothing to do with the outcome. We are a one dimensional team and until we can both pass and run we might as well get used to being satisfied with just making the playoffs. We are not the NYG and we have no NYG running game which along with their defense is the heart of that team.
