You're right, this loss to JMU devalues the Boise State win but it shouldn't. This was a classic trap game. Va Tech was coming off on emotional season defining loss only to face a very lowly regarded opponent. JMU had everything to win and nothing to lose whereas Virginia Tech had absolutely nothing to gain.

yeah- fairly arrogant move by VT as well, scheduling a game in such a short duration from what should of been known to be a tough, emotional game

Two things

1. I mentioned before, VT is replacing a lot of players on their defense. I think because of name recognition only that people assumed they would be a great team, but I didnt. They wont win the ACC IMO. Good? yes, great? No

2. JMU is a division II powerhouse. This isnt a cake walk game. Similiar to Appy st they have a ton of kids on their team who were formal Division I players who transferred out or flunked out of bigger programs. Not saying it was expected, but it wasnt as big an upset as some may think...

Boise St. beat Virginia Tech which demoralized them and left them down in the dumps...which no doubt contributed to their loss to JMU the following week...so Boise St. only has themselves to blame. :D

James Madison is DIVISION I, same as NAU. Refering to as such is almost ban worthy :mulli:

Sorry, wrong. JMU is in the Football Championship Subdivision, which is division II.

Again, you are wrong.

FCS is Division I. JMU, NAU, etc all are full members of NCAA Division I.

Schools like Grand Canyon, West Alabama, etc are NCAA Division II

Yep - it used to be called Division 1AA ... now the FCS

definitely not Division II

here is the DII top 25

and the conferences & teams
http://www.d2football.com/teams/

here is a list of the current FCS schools
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_Division_I_FCS_football_programs

here is the FCS top 25 (JMU is #3 - the play in the colonial athletic association - which is the same as their conference for all other sports - all division 1)

on a side note - does grand canyon have a football team? ... i knew a couple years ago there was talk of starting one and it would be division II ..... i just have never heard of them actually taking the field

Boise went from 1AA to D1 back in 1996. Not a bad progression in such a short time, and the future looks bright.

Some would like to say Frank Beamer does it with mirrors. The ACC does not look good , once again.
