I can't wait for the season to start .... Also it is time to start posting again ...

I wanted to start off my first post of the new season about Directv and the best way to get a good rate. If you are a currect Directv customer and looking for the HD set up for NFL Sunday ticket here is what you do. Or if you even signed up at least a month ago they will still give you the same deal.

Call 1-800-600-8977

Then tell them you are comparing prices with Comcast and they have a better deal. Say that you're friend got this deal and they will match

HD TiVo (HR10-250) for $299 with a $100 MIR It has a 200 Gig hard drive
Free activation
Free Sunday Ticket HD Upgrade
Free 6 Months Showtime

Also to warn people they now have a 2 year service agreement **

I hope that helps anyone looking for HD Tivo upgrade for really cheap. Just 5 months ago this same Tivo was $999.00

Hey guys, receivers from DIRECTV are free. You can call them and they'll give them to you, but you have to make a committment. You can also buy them for $50. In the end, though, they give them away because they charge you $4.99 for every additional receiver. They get their money back in 10 months and after that it's gravy.

40yearfan, I wouldn't say anything if you're not being charged.

I just bought the HD Tivo HR10-250. Awesome unit.

From the DIRECTV web site:

Q:If I have more than one receiver, do I have to pay a full monthly subscription for each receiver?

A:No. DIRECTV allows you to connect more than one television in a single household to our services. If your receivers are connected to the same phone line, we can "mirror" your subscription. In other words, the programming you request for the primary access card in your receiver is copied for all of the access cards in the other receivers and you are authorized to receive this same level or programming on these televisions. Instead of charging you a separate monthly subscription for each receiver, we simply charge a $4.99 monthly service fee for each additional receiver.

When we "mirror" your subscription to additional receivers, we do verify that all your receivers are continuously connected to the same phone line. If we find that a receiver with "mirror" service is not connected to the phone line, we will discontinue service to that receiver and you will need to call us to re-establish that service.

I just got my HD tivo a few weeks ago for $238 (after rebate) If you really want to squeeze em, call and ask for the retention department, tell them your thinking about leaving... then wait for the groveling to begin. :)

That's funny because I ended up paying $350 net for the HR10-250 after the mail in rebate and a little retention department talk. I don't think I held out long enough, but I always wanted one of these units since they were introduced at $999.

WoooooHoooooo!

Its about time!

Direct is coming out with some super DVD Recorder in October which will knock TIVO in the head. They will still support TIVO but this new unit which will have 100 hours of recording including HD is supposed to be really cool. USA Today ran a blurb on it the other day.

My friend Dave has the answer, if you like to watch more than just the Cardinals games. Check out his TV setup. A 65" in the middle, and 8 smaller TV's, all hooked up with the NFL package. He can watch pretty much every game (unless one is blacked out). But, he's on the East coast and doesn't have to deal with the blackouts.

To make things better, he has a killer leather massage chair he sits in to watch the games.

Lucky bastard, and yes, he's single.

Who does Dave have sitting in his lap while all this is going on. Sure looks good to me.
