Dang knew I should have kept my JJ #2 Suns jersey
I don't get those press conferences. My first question would have been whether they are planning on picking up his 4th-year option before the start of season. I'm sure Babby would not have given any meaningful answer, but still it would be worth asking, just to get something on record and to put this trade in perspective. After all, they are all raving about a player who may not be here that long. But the questions that are asked are always so generic and scripted, as if the press is instructed ahead of time what they are allowed to ask.
Generally, reporters are deferential during these intro pressers unless there's an obvious reason to be confrontational. In this case, there's no real reason to put Babby on the spot, and Johnson gets the benefit of the doubt for now. Reporters are obligated to maintain some kind of civil, working relationship with these people. You don't achieve that by putting them on the spot when it's not really necessary.
So I guess we would not have been good reporters.
Do they have a serious limitation of jersey numbers in Phoenix? All these new dudes just wear the same number as the previous guy. Maybe they just leave the jerseys in the locker room when they quit, so the new guys can choose from those.
I thought Dragic was #2? What is he going to wear then?

I bet, in all of his infinite cheapness, that Sarver offered Wes a few thousand bucks to wear # 2 so he could save money; taking all the surplus Joe Johnson jerseys out of storage and putting them back into circulation as Wes Johnson jerseys.
I know you may be joking, but this is pretty extreme, considering Sarver isn't cheap at all. A moron when it comes to basketball operations, maybe, but definitely not cheap.
And for all intents and purposes, other than some input on the Nash to Lakers trade, he has seemed to be largely absent in pretty much everything the front office has done this summer.
That is honestly quite amusing to me.0 - Beasley
1 - Dragic
2 - Johnson
3 - Dudley
4 - Gortat

There's even a chance to see all five on the floor at the same time.

Joe is 6'8"-225. Wes is 6'7"-215. I guess if they put him on a pizza diet, he could grow into it.I bet, in all of his infinite cheapness, that Sarver offered Wes a few thousand bucks to wear # 2 so he could save money; taking all the surplus Joe Johnson jerseys out of storage and putting them back into circulation as Wes Johnson jerseys.
