Fitz. We've been able to fake it without Dockett, Palmer, D-Wash, and the others but not Fitz. Fitz doesn't drop that pass in the endzone. Fitz would draw coverage away from the others. Fitz, even when he's not catching passes, creates havoc. Pretty much cinches the fact that no matter what, he has to stay with this team.

Definitely would have helped to have him today.

Agree. Floyd was invisible this game.

Not that Fitz wasn't missed in the game, but disagree that he's the one injured player that we can't do without. Remember that this was still a game in Seattle against the Seahawks with the back-up QB.

Fitz is a very important piece of the puzzle, but Veldheer and Ellington are harder to replace in this offense IMO.

Its just an accumulation of injuries, at some point, that one more makes a difference. If we had Palmer, we wouldn't have noticed Larry being missing so much. But, its also playing a desperate (and good) team in a hostile environment. And every team has let downs.

Learn, flush. Move on.

Fitz is definitely playing at a higher level than we expected but I don't think we win that game with him out there yesterday. It was a smart move to sit him IMO.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say the future of the offense's success will largely depend on retaining Larry's services beyond this season. Michael Floyd is a decent receiver but he's not a legitimate #1 NFL receiver IMO. With the ineffective running attack the Cardinals have at present, the offense is neutered without Larry.

I'm not talking about ifs. I'm talking about the here and now and the here and now is we're stuck with Stanton at QB and someone like him needs a QB of Fitz's stature and leadership. That was blatantly obvious yesterday.

Even if Fitz does come back, is it crazy talk to think about grabbing a top-flight wideout in the draft? We seem to be able to generate sacks, but that doesn't amount to much if teams don't have to worry about doubling any of our pass catchers.

Actually no it isn't crazy talk. Fitz is in his 11th season and isn't getting any younger. But it's funny to think a team that's 9-2 has so many holes to fill. Yes we're generating sacks but we still can use an edge rusher so we don't have to blitz so much. I know this is crazy to say because Watt is such a rare and special player but can you imagine having a Watt type player on this defense? We also need an every down running back. Ellington isn't getting it done either because of injury or he just isn't that back.

Thankfully you can tab RBs in lower rounds, the first round value just isn't there anymore.

Fitz presence alone helps out the entire offense. Would we have won with him on the field yesterday, probably not, but he sure helps. I agree with previous posts about the O line and run game. It's going to be a tough road if we can't get some sort of ground threat.

Better get used to it cause I doubt he plays this week either. After the Rams game I did homework on the injury & it normally takes 3-4 weeks to return to action. :bang::bang:

The name you are looking for is Carson Palmer. His injury will be the one we are unable to overcome.

It depends... if Fitz returns then it is very debatable. This current team is, by far, the deepest at WR compared to any other position on the team. Seems like you could say that about Cards teams for decades, but it's still true.

Our current WR corps causes major matchup problems. You can see that John Brown is now getting considerable respect. The Lions doubled him at times, and overplayed the deep route on others. The problem with the passing game right now is no one fears our running game making play action ineffective.

Seriously? I honestly can't tell if you are kidding because that is completely ridiculous.

What he said is a true fact, but trying to narrow down the outcome of football games to ONE variable is impossible.

We are 5-deep at the position, and those guys would be catching a lot more balls if the running game demanded any respect. We need guards and a north/south running back, plus Carson needs to come back and no one else gets hurt :D

What did I say that was incorrect. In order for this conversation to move forward, you need to point out the errors in what I said but frankly, there aren't any. All I do is provide facts which is all I've done here so please list where I'm in error and we'll continue.

35 yards total vs the Seahawks last year. We really miss his contribution on the field.

I'm not so sure we have been able to fake it without Palmer. I think there was some smoke and mirrors in the beginning but that isn't working any longer.

Palmer is the biggest injury period, we faked it early in the year against sub par competiton, but now that we have hit the meat of our season you will see! At the end of the year even if we sqeak into the playoffs its not gonna be pretty without Palmer. Palmer just has skills Drew doesn't have but all we can do is support the horse we have to ride! Go Cards!

You said they're 4-2 without Palmer. That's incorrect. They're 3-2.
