The 2025 NFL draft is finally here, and the Chicago Bears will soon welcome a new group of rookies to the roster.

General manager Ryan Poles will be looking to add some impact players to the roster. Chicago has seven selections in this draft, including four inside the Top 75. That starts with the 10th overall pick and continues with three Day 2 selections (Nos. 39, 41 and 72). And there's always the possibility of a trade back (or trade up) scenario.

After an impactful offseason where they shored up their biggest needs along the offensive and defensive lines, the Bears have the luxury of selecting the best player available rather than drafting for need. But they could also make upgrades at running back, left tackle and continue to shore up the trenches.

Still, there are some scenarios that we'd like to see play out for Chicago this weekend. So we're imagining what a perfect draft would look like for the Bears.

A blue-chip player falls to Chicago

This would be the most ideal scenario for the Bears, and it's what every team sitting there in the upper half of the first round is hoping for. There are a lot of unknowns heading into Round 1, where there's talk of trades and questions about Shedeur Sanders that could very well impact the Top 10. For Chicago, the hope is one of their top choices somehow falls to them at No. 10. There's been talk of the Bears potentially trading up in the Top 10 to land a top prospect, which many believe to be running back Ashton Jeanty but perhaps also edge rusher Abdul Carter. But the best case scenario for Chicago is to retain their draft capital -- all three of those Day 2, Top 75 picks -- and have someone like Jeanty, tight end Tyler Warren or defensive tackle Mason Graham still be on the board at 10th overall.

Land a playmaking running back for Ben Johnson

The Bears don't have any pressing needs heading into the draft, but they need to add a playmaking running back to pair with D'Andre Swift. There's been plenty of discussion about Chicago potential trading up for Boise State's Ashton Jeanty -- or prayer circles for Jeanty falling to the Bears at 10th overall -- but the first isn't make-or-break at the running back position. This is a deep class that will feature some top prospects on Day 2, including TreVeyon Henderson, Kaleb Johnson, Quinshon Judkins and Cam Skattebo. As long as Chicago manages to snag a running back by the end of Day 2, it'll be a great addition to Ben Johnson's offense.

Add a left tackle to compete with Braxton Jones

Chicago overhauled their offensive line in a big way this offseason with the trades for guards Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson, as well as the free agent addition of center Drew Dalman. The Bears could very well have their starting five already in place with Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright at left and right tackle. But with Jones coming off a fractured fibula (which will have him limited to start training camp) and entering a contract year, Chicago would do well to draft a tackle to compete with Jones and potentially be his long-term replacement. Whether that's lucking into Will Campbell at 10th overall or trading back into the first round for Josh Conerly or Kelvin Banks Jr. or even landing Aireontae Ersery on Day 2, the Bears need to find another tackle to compete with Jones and second-year pro Kiran Amegadjie at left tackle.

Find a complement for Cole Kmet at tight end

There's no telling how the draft board will unfold in front of the Bears on Day 1, but there's a good chance both Tyler Warren and Colston Loveland will be available come 10th overall. Chicago has its starting tight end in Cole Kmet, but they need to find a complement for the sixth-year pro because Durham Smythe isn't it. The Bears have the opportunity to land one of the top two tight ends in this class in Warren or Loveland, which would be ideal. But there are also options on Day 2 and 3 with Mason Taylor, Elijah Arroyo, Harold Fannin Jr., Terrance Ferguson, Gunnar Helm, Mitchell Evans and Luke Lachey.

Add another pass rusher to the group

The one common theme among mock drafts this pre-draft process has been an abundance of offensive linemen and skill position players linked to Chicago. But don't write off an edge rusher as a position that will be a focal point for the Bears, where Day 2 appears to be the sweet spot. There could be some top prospects on the board, including Landon Jackson, Nic Scourton and Princely Umanmielen, for Chicago in the second and third rounds. Just like with the offensive line, the additions of Grady Jarrett and Dayo Odeyingbo shouldn't preclude the Bears from addressing the defensive trenches early.
