Assuming the trade for Donnell Harvey goes through, we can assume that Googs minutes will drop to zero.

At the start of last season, Googs put up moderately good numbers prior to getting injured: 4.8 ppg on 45.5% shooting and 3.7 rebounds in 16.8 minutes. This year his performance is awful:
34.2% from the field, 2 rpg in 11.8 minutes, along with inadequate defense. Googs has not been in the lineup since the Clippers game (Dec 13) where he shot 3 of 10.

I don't see any way that he can be traded except to a team interested in doing a salary dump. The only deals that are even possible are for guys like Eddie Jones, Keith Van Horn, Jalen Rose, Antonio Davis, and Mike Bibby which would be a financial disaster for the Suns.

Maybe they can teach him to wave a towel.

I am sure the Suns will let his contract run out and let him go at the end of the year.

I don't think Googs has played in the last 3+ games anyway.

If we can't use him now when we are short-handed at the forward spot, when will he be of any use?

BTW that is a retorical question, no answer is required.

Which is not a surprise at all.

I have to admit I was disappointed with Googs. Last year in the playoffs, he was very productive. Over the summer we kept hearing that he was finally healthy and moving around better than he had for at least 5 years.

Instead, he is completely unwilling to mix it up inside, never takes the ball to the basket, plays too soft on defense, and no longer can hit that short jumper his career was built on.

None of the local reporters have been willing to comment on how badly he has played this year. He is apparently a nice guy and they all have been pulling for him, but he is lucky he does not play in a city like Boston.

Googs somehow made it onto the West 90's Allstar team in ESPN 2k4 on PS2. :confused:

It's a shame he turned to total sh%t when we got him. He was good for a few seasons...until we got him, that is.

You can thank a stumbling Randy Livingston and a big influx of good, young power forwards into the Western Conference for that.

How could I forget about little
Randy 'I'm coming for ya legs' Levingston.

It's a shame none the less. Googs is a good guy... apparently.

I am really surprised there isn't more deliberate efforts to injure opponents, considering what is at state. Have a backup player put an opponent's star on IR and all he loses is a three game suspension.

If you wanted a penalty that would sting, let the injured player's team pick which player gets suspended. They don't care if Fortson gets suspended, but suspend Nash, Walker or Nowitzki and they would take it more seriously.

Subtle yet effective stumple and land... right on Karl Malone. Make it look accidental. Well done Scott Williams :thumbup:

Revisionist history. We got raped the day we signed Googs in a panic after losing McDyess.

I can't stand Penny Hardaway, but frankly, for the money, the three worst things Colangelo has ever done to the Suns are:

1. Sign Googs;
2. Trade for Rick Robey;
3. Draft William Bedford.

Signing Luc Longley has got to be top 5.

Yeah, but we traded him for Chris Dudley and a first-round pick. Win-win.

Although we did trade Ron Artest to get him in the first place . . . urgh.

The Suns lucked out when the unloaded Longely for Dudley. It was part of a weird trade that involved Glenn Rice going from the Knicks to the Lakers. Dudley was mostly a banger, but he was near the end of his contract.

Randy sure gets a lot of grief for this... if I recall the play correctly Ostertag banged him with a hip as he drove to the hoop and knocked him into Googs. No foul on 'Tag, of course - typical officiating whenever we play the Jazz...

Umm, not exactly.

Patrick Ewing went from New York to Seattle. Luc Longley went from Phoenix to NY. Dudley went to Phoenix from NY. Rice came FROM the Lakers, to NY. And Horace Grant went from Seattle to LA. There were other ancillary players involved as well as multiple picks but those players were the main basis for the deal.
