1. Go to Tampa for the minimum
2. Talk the Texans into giving him a million or 2.
3. Wait for a team like Washington or Oakland that signs any and every aging veteran to a league minimum deal

What are we offering him $9 million for? We're bidding against ourselves.

This would be a huge mistake. Personally, I don't think we need Emmitt but am indifferent if we sign him. 3 years for $9 million? Cmon. This is exactly why the Bidwills should stay the hell out of the player personnel racket and just do the marketing thing. To me, the very fact some coaches are against it bothers me. This guy is now being shoved down everyone's throats.

Bidwill only needs 6,000 season ticket holders at 500/seat to recover 3 million/year.

Doesn't he realize that cowgirl fans don't HAVE 500 dollars?

It does seem like he has no other options. If we don't hear about another visit by next week, you've made some pretty safe assumptions Ed.

In the case of signing Smith, the personnel and marketing decision may be one in the same.

Well the Bidwills have done such a great job at marketing the team thus far...

Isn't that offer higher than Shipp's new contract? How do you do that and then tell Shipp don't worry you'll get your carries?

I don't mind bringing in Emmitt but not at that price it's too high.

I'd feel "at home" too if someone offered me twice what my market value was.

My real concern is it appears my new Cardinal hat will arrive today or tomorrow which can only mean Holliday will sign, I'm still not sold on that one.

Maybe if I send the hat back they will cut the offers to both Holliday and Smith (-:

OK this might seem weird, but........

........I'm gonna be out of touch from the internet until tomorrow, can someone text message me if we sign Holliday as Jurecki was rumoring?

312-952-1050

Text messaging is free on most cell phones, I think, so it won't cost you a call.

ps - NO PRANK CALLS. SECTION 11, I'M LOOKING AT YOU.

YOU TOO, KRANG.

Where was it reported that we were going to make such an offer? Aren't we jumping the gun again:rolleyes: ?

Emmitt has stated he wants to do this over the next 3-4 weeks; i.e. needs time to check out other teams. By then I feel the Cards management will certainly know his market value and make an offer that is fair to both sides.

I hardly think Emmitt Smith goes anywhere for the minimum. that makes as much sense as those who said no one would be interested in Boston. You can bet he will get at least 3 mil a year with several takers.

I am not sure Emmit would want kickers or roaster Bounus he maybe intrested in only finishing his career at one place and not worring about having to move his family again in a few years.

This may be a case where overpaying comes into play. We should do a little over the vet minimum. Emmitt really liked his visit. We should take advantage of it with a little above what others can offer. Now that would be smart....I wonder if Howdy has anything between his wooden ears....We will find out...
