Soto is the only legit catcher available via free agency... That said, hasn't Pacheco been a catcher in the past?

Soto, Hundley, Arencibia & Pierzynski are the only real names out there but none are going to make you forget about Montero.

Realistically, Miggy's performance over the past two seasons make us forget about Montero. 'Appreciate what did for us prior to that, but this is about going forward.

Expectations which were too high are partially to blame for Miggy's downturn. Let's not do that to the next starting Catcher we sign or trade for.

GM Dave Stewart announced that the D-backs are on the hunt for a new Catcher.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are on the hunt for a new catcher, and new general manager Dave Stewart seems to have a couple replacements in mind.

One of those names happens to be the catcher for the Detroit Tigers, Alex Avila.

Stewart spoke to reporters Wednesday during the third day of winter meetings in San Diego and -- in an odd move -- reportedly identified Avila as a catcher who could be available on the trading block and a potential fit for the Diamondbacks.

Along with Avila, Stewart -- who was named Arizona's general manager in late September -- also identified Toronto Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro as a possible trade target, according to The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro.

The Diamondbacks are currently seeking a catcher after the club traded veteran Miguel Montero to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for two minor leaguers Tuesday.

What about trade Mark Trumbo to Minnesota Twins for Josmil Pinto and some minor league depth?

not sure there is any interest here in Castillo but he could be a nice fit for u guys.

We are looking for a CF to help take some pressure off Alcantara and I think your 4th OF Inciarte would be a nice fit.

Stewart recently said they are no longer pursuing trades for a C as the market is too steep cost wise. Rumor was they were interested in Dioner Navarro who is expendable since TOR signed Martin, but TOR must want top prospects for him.

well I am just asking fans

you have Trumbo, Pollock, Ross, Peralta...and if you ask me Tomas will end up in the OF.

So is Inciarte too valuable to trade straight up for Castillo?

If the walking corpse of Cody Ross is on this roster they might as well just sign Bob Brenly to catch.

from the Chicago Tribune:

With the Rockies' signing of Nick Hundley to a two-year deal, potential landing spots are dwindling. The Diamondbacks are looking for a starting catcher while they groom Rule 5 pick Oscar Hernandez.
But a Diamondbacks source said the asking price is too high for Castillo, 27, who batted a career-low .237 last season but had a career-high 13 home runs.

Not sure what that asking price is...I think Inciarte is a fair deal, but thats me

Hard to say here if Theo is overvaluing or the DBacks are undervaluing...but since DBacks say asking price is too high I am guessing its Theo playing hardball.

With the Cubs acquiring of Fowler the Roster is now full and more than likely any trade will now be for prospects. So maybe Dave Stewart revisits the Castillo trade now...only thing the Cubs really havent acquired and will likely fill from within is a lefty reliever...you guys have any to spare just in case?
