What are the chances that Minnesota takes Benson at #7?

I could see Mike Tice doing this because I think he is sick of playing finesse ball and wants to go more smashmouth. Plus, Onterrio Smith is one late night party from being suspended for a year, Muwelde Moore is more of a change of pace guy, and Micheal Bennett is always hurt and has only one more year on his contract.

I'd be pissed if this happens, but the way Minnesota has retooled their team this offseason, I can see it happening. The Vikes have pretty much filled all their defensive holes and can truly take the BPA and Cedric Benson might fit the bill.

Then we take Johnson. :)

They may but only if Chicago goes with a receiver. The whole draft hinges on Tampas pick, in my opinion. If they go RB, then the big 3 are gone, we pick corner, then trade with Buffalo or hope Arrington/Fason is around in round 2. If Tampa picks Mike Williams, we go with RB, most likely Cadillac. then best CB left in round 2.

If Minnesota take Benson then we may trade with them for Michael Bennett who will then be available. Give them our (Patriots) 3rd round pick. IMO we would then go CB with the #8 pick and whoever we like with the #44 pick.

Chances of that figure to be slim to none. Vikes have a pile of RB's and no Randy Moss. It's a good year for wideouts. And if Mike Williams and Edwards are gone by #7, they might even reach a little for Williamson or Clayton (or trade out of there). But the last thing they need right now is still another RB.

Now watch them draft one.

Its very possible the Vikings do go for Benson. After filling the defensive holes during free agency, the Vikes may want to revamp their running game and Benson would be the step in the right direction.
