Leftwich went from intern to OC in 3 years. Expect very little and you won’t be disappointed.

Yep. Leftwich isn't exactly inheriting a stacked Offense and is for the most part learning on the job with a rookie QB.

Really the only thing I hope to see is better usage of David Johnson by getting him the ball out in space more.

I expect more of what Michael Lombardi calls "Battleship Playcalling", where there isn't much of a sequencing of plays or a build to something that takes advantage of what was done 12-20 plays earlier. Instead, you're trying something, and if that doesn't work, you try something else.

I honestly don't know enough about playcalling and how you set stuff up in-game to know or notice other differences. What I can guess is that we're going to be at a significant disadvantage against defensive coordinators who have been doing this for decades. I'd guess we'll see a marginal improvement for a few games, and then maybe worse than before.

Nice take. IMO, this is something to watch the rest of the season, see if Leftwich starts showing a shift to game long strategy. BA did this all the time - a goofy run play that seemed to make absolutely no sense - ran the almost identical play a few times, many times barely gaining two yards - then on one of the plays, it is used to setup a TE toss for 20.

You really have to be confident to call plays like this, knowing that plays may get stuffed but that the info gathered is worth the cost. If Leftwich is doing this by season's end - this will be a great move.

Well they want to run the ball more and better according to read on the website ? Will they? Heard this song and dance forever. Depends if they actually practice the run game - everybody so scared of being Hurt - should be scared of being beat.

Think they need Sam back under center - unpopular but I think so, josh ain’t got much of a chance to grow appropriately, he is in over his head, he’ll they all are.

I do think leftwich respected the run game when he played, understands it is the engine of everything but the run and shoot offenses. He has the player talent- does he have the coaching talent? Conducting an NFL offense against NFL defenses, well wish we would bring in some coaching talent - if Keim wants to swing at something, swing at that!

If this is the staff Wilks brings to the dance, he is not ready to be an NFL HC, one fan’s opinion. I mean he’s promoting a carry over from the last staff with one year qb coaching experience. Let’s see what other team would consider leftwich ready to be OC? Maybe the rattlers?

I’m going elk hunting this week - will be processing real game next week- I know how to coordinate that. Then it’s off to gold mining - I’m still learning that whole operation - but will feed me and the crew well - trying to keep them from getting to creative - sometimes a mans gotta do what’s mans gotta do - until you get the fundamentals running like a smoot, well oiled machine, Biscuits are hard to come by.

I agree. I think that's why BA scripted the first 20 plays or so. I think this was used so they could see how the defense was going to defend or react to certain looks/situations we gave them.

Once They gathered that info they could revisit those looks they showed during the scripted plays but with a twist, show them the same look, but run something totally different out of that look.

It's how you can get some big plays and keep the defense from getting comfortable. That's one of my take aways from watching the McCoy offense. The oppositions defense just seemed way to comfortable against our offense.
