Any helpful links for that setup and more info?

I use privateinternetaccess.com for my VPN. It's $40 a year. I'm sure there are others though that might even be cheaper or even free. With free ones though, you typically get what you are paying for.
With a UK termination, you can even watch Doctor Who as it's being broadcast in the UK on the BBC Iplayer.

October 2nd, I cut the cord. No more Direct TV (or Dish or cable etc). It's a little scary because unlike most of you, I can't receive any broadcast channels. I'm just going to rely on NFL Game Rewind and NBA League Pass for my sports. Thanks to the Pac 12/DTV war, I've already adjusted to life without college sports. I have Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and a Roku 3 so I won't lack for entertainment but if somebody blows up the Internets, I'll be pretty bored for awhile.

Wow, I'd love to save the money but I couldn't do without the Suns on my TV. Are you able to watch NBA League Pass on your TV or do you have to watch on your PC?

With my Apple TV or Roku, I can watch NBA League Pass on my TV but the NFL I'll have to watch on my tablet or computer. It wasn't enough that they don't have an APP for it on Roku or Apple TV, for some reason they even went a step further and disabled Airplay for NFL Game Rewind.

I cut it years ago, never looked back. All I miss is suns games. I have someones password for espn to watch MNF on my xbox and xgames. Cardinals are on regular TV. I watch some network programming and then netflix and hulu. Good to go. Been about 3 years now of saving over 75 a month by having no cable.

P.S. I wish I could find a way to get online only subscriptions to some of these channels. If I could I would drop DIRECTV in a hot minute. I might still next year anyway as much as it will pain me.

I will probably have an OTA combined with a Roku or Apple TV. I already have Hulu Plus and Netflix. The only way Cable TV or SAT will be able to keep me as a customer is to go a la carte someday. Maybe it will happen.

ala carte would be awesome.

Now that Amazon has a deal to stream HBO it's not so bad. You won't be current but you won't have to miss them completely. Besides, I started watching TV marathon style back in the late 90's when TV shows first started becoming available on DVD. I love watching an entire season of a show over a few days time and as a result, I never watch a show anymore week to week. And no, according to TVFool, we probably wouldn't pick up much even with a good rooftop antenna.

Old HBO shows galore on there, i dont have it though. I use my moms DTV password and watch hbo go

FSN has been around since 96 but was called Prime Sports Arizona right? As far as I can tell it was rebranded that same year to Fox Sports Arizona and bought by FOX the same year. So FOX was around since 96.

So how does that work? You pay Amazon Prime yearly fee of $99.99 plus the cost of HBO?

its built in but its old shows like sopranos and oz.

A VPN setup to change your city would work to watch NFL games streamed by FOX for example. You can also use the Hola unblocker extension (I use Chrome, I imagine there's an option for Firefox) to change your home country, if you wanted to watch the BBC Iplayer, or the Netflix selection from any other country. It's a great extension to watch any video that isn't available in your country.
