part of me wonders if Whis got orders to play Lindley

I get the move two weeks ago, but after a half (quarter?) yesterday, it was obvious that Lindley had no idea what was going on

If that's the case, why is he giving "the best chance to win" BS. Just because he has to say something?!

I wondered about that on another thread yesterday. After sleeping on it I still have it in my head. What if Mr B. put out the word that Whiz asked for a QB in the draft and got one. And told Whiz now it's your job to turn him into a great quarterback 'cause I'm not paying for any more QB's.

We got plenty of QBs: you job is to play them. Look how much I'm paying Kolb!

(And if my theory had any basis in reality I could see Whiz saying, You can't fire me I quit. Let someone else try and coach the horrible players in this cheapskate organization.)

This sucks I was willing to keep Wiz around, but after him keeping Lindley in WTF. We just need a good enough QB and I think Skelton can give us that. I am now on the Kick Wiz out and bring up Horton then at least we will not have a Coach that thinks he can run the O. Bring in a Top Offic. coord. and let him bring his crew in. Heck they maybe could even bring in a QB with them.

At this point keep Lindley and Wiz until the end of the year and let Wiz be the goat. Not sure I am going to watch many more games this year. :(

The best coaches are like fine Chefs with people, they make the best out of what they have, not saying they don't go shopping for more when they can but right now, we have what we have, make it work.

Whiz's approach to me seems to be too rigid to inflexible and frankly too lacking in creativity.

People are varied, what motivates one, does not motivate the other, a basic leadership skill is to bring out the best in what you have.

He needs to work on this and then he'd IMO become a much better HC.

He's got one note, iron fisted note, he needs to realize people are different, when you figure out what motivates them then do that with them and they'll give you what you want.

You want them to do what you want them to do, so instead of pounding your fist like a 5 year old who can't figure out why the square peg wont go in the round hole, go find yourself the round thingy that goes there and stop the madness.

If Matt needs sunshine and unicorns blown up his butt to perform at his highest level, go find a sunshine and unicorn projecter and turn it on high, if a player needs to be told they suck and are on the verge of flipping burgers, then drive them by a Burger King and kick them out of the car and leave them there and let them find their way back.

Do what works.

Search for it, get good and figuring out that and you can do amazing things.

Joke

+1

Completely unprofessional. Completely unfair, and hypocritical.

What is worse ? Lindley missed the EXACT SAME PASS that got Skelton benched, and it was after the INT's and after Lindley had a complete and total emotional breakdown out on the field.

In addition to keeping Lindley out on the field, go back and watch what an embarrassment Rich Ohrnberger was at center.

Whiz is a joke. A complete joke. His system is a joke, and his coaching career is a joke. Warner, Dick LaBeau, and Ray Horton. Without those three Whiz would not be where he is today, which is not much, but he is barely a highschool coach at this point.
Horrible. Hopefully this season makes sure he and Grimm are not in the NFL after this season. They don't deserve to be. That is not NFL quality football, thus it does not belong in the league.

I never would think about firing a coach mid-season, but Whiz deserves it at this point. Totally justifiable.

If the organization is standing behind flushing the season down the toilet, giving up, putting a product on the field like what we all just seen, then Whiz can be fired.

If your going to screw over your players, fans, and everyone involved in the organization by stubbornly leaving players in games that have no business being in there, then just blow the whole thing up.

This is already a joke, the season is already over, there is no reason why Whiz cannot, and should not be fired. He is a joke, and the organization is a joke right now, so it won't hurt anything anyway.

Flippin' disgrace. Whiz sucks, and I hope to never see him on the sideline again. Frickin' clown.

Sad but true!

No matter what anybody says I'll never be convinced Whiz honestly felt Lindley was our best option out there, no way no how. Something deeper is going on. Seriously, Whiz is making an example out of Skelton infront of the whole team, and that team is scared to talk about it. Now having to resort to using fear as a motivation technique again during the losing streak, his days are numbered. But back to Skelton...what did he say or do? Someone in here said something about an unhappy comment, and I do remember that last TD miss to Larry right before he got benched. But that was not Whiz playing to win today, that was Whiz showing who's boss, and he won't let losing a game stop him.

The announcers yesterday thought that the Management may have already seen enough of Skelton to have come to a conclusion about his future and wanted to give Lyndley enough time to make a final evaluation on him this year. Clearly if you wanted to win you would have put Skelton in there in the 4th quarter. Lydley could not hit the side of a barn at that point and was totally lost. In fact any confidence he may have had was destroyed by that game. You are right in that Skelton may have said something to Whiz that p---ed him off. The Jets had the same record as us and sent in their 3rd QB who had never played a game in the NFL. He won the game for them. I think the annoucers were surprise we did not do the same. Whiz seems to be a very hard headed sort of guy.
Sure hope that was the reason he let Lyndley play it out. A coach has to think about the team and the players who are out there risking their limbs and not get hung up on something personal.

I would think the GM and owner would be asking the same question. If I were them I would want an explanation from Whiz after the game. Maybe these guys do not even talk to each other. Wonder who will start for the Jets next week? McElroy looked rather good and comes from being a 3 year starter at Alabama and a history of big time winning. Sanchez looked horrible or our defense made him look horrible.

MY guess is Skelton said to Whiz FU after he was pulled suddenly. That had to embarrass him so why not. I wonder what Skelton thought when Lyndley missed a wide open Larry Fitz on the 2 yard line by 10 feet? Could he have wondered why Whiz did not pull Lyndley? What is right for the goose is right for the gander? We are playing bad enough without having feelings and politics enter into our game play and who plays. This would almost clearly indicate the end of Skeltons career with the Cards. If you would not bring him in during the 4th quarter of that game when would you ever use him. Players are trying to win and are risking injury so they must be asking them selves for what if the HC is not trying to win? I am asking the same thing. I am now to the point I might consider firing Whiz before the season is over after this fiasco. If they are considering Horton then I would do it and offer him the job or at least the interim HC job and you would find out if he has any real interest in being the Cards HC. I have been all for keeping Whiz until the end of the year but not now. One team just fired its OC. I think Andy Reid is just playing it out at this point. I would consider him as a HC. I think he has a home somewhere in AZ does he not?

We had better go all out for a QB this off season. I put the SF QB at the top of my list and also draft a QB with my #1 pick to back him up and train under. Pay this guy what ever it takes. He is pi--ed off at his coach and I think would love to be in a position to stick it to him. Being a Cards QB gives him that opportunity twice a year. It also helps keep Fitz happy with some hope. Take a RB with our #2 pick and not a lightweight. We need a bone crushing RB like the one St Louis is letting go. He has a good 2 years left and is still making big yardage.

In talking about the SF QB situation some former coaches were discussing the old adage "you do not lose your starting job because of an injury." All of them said that was bull. If you go down and your replacement looks better than you then you are out of there. Lou Gehrig came in when the Yankee 1B was hurt and stayed in the lineup for over 20 years. I am still wondering about Jefferson? Could he be another Garrison Hearst? Gets injured. Looks bad then cut and turns out to play another decade as an outstanding RB for another team. Wells looks marginal at best so I have my concerns about him as well. Seems like our last good RB was Emmit Smith who is now dancing his way to glory on Dancing With The Stars.

I really don't think it's anything more than Whis trying to save face after benching Skelton during the most important game of the season. It's obviously backfiring on him, and he's doing it to the detriment of team, but I fully believe it's just another extension of Whis' infamous head games.
