Cards were said to be angling for a first day pick in exchange for Jones. While beggars can't be choosers, the Cards may be in a stronger position than most of us think if more than one team is bidding for TJ.

My guess - the Cards will insist on a 3rd but settle for a 4th or 5th round pick.

I can handle that....or also Jones for one of their back-up receivers straight up.

Chiefs don't have a 3rd round pick in this draft (Willie Roaf) and I can't see them giving up a 4th. 5th is as high as I think they'll go for a player that will likely be released. The Chiefs (or more to the point Carl Peterson) are not ones to panic during negotiations. If a deal isn't struck for a lower round pick, Carl will go into the draft and try to find a player there. They'll likely then scour the market after June 1st for other cap casualties.

Bottomline, I think Olandis Gary signing with Buffalo gave the Cardinals leverage in this negotiation and they are smart to try to negotiate a better deal. However, if they push to hard with Carl, they may find themselves holding on to Jones while the Chiefs move on, possibly resulting in them getting nothing in return.
