For all of those who complained we should have taken Peterson instead of Brown, NFL.Net is reporting (8pm CST) he's on his way to Minn. to be assessed for surgery on his shoulder that will most likely keep him out for all of the 2007 season.

Do you have a link that says he will absolutely be out? The original post says he will be assessed, and can't find anything on google news mentioning this.

It is just a rumor so far and nothing to substantiate it.

I heard that also, that he was going to be looked at by the doctors, but this was said this morning, everyone knew about it. Atleast I did. I haven't heard however that the prognosis is that bad. An hour ago they said it would likely only be a few months.

I say, "so what?"

It was no mystery coming into today that he had a concern with his collar bone.

Nothing's changed. IMO, he should have been our pick.

I heard Mike Mayock say that this morning. MY gripe with the Brown pick is that I wish we could have traded down with ATL but oh well. My big gripe with Branch is A I think he's a bust and B we could have gotten him at 38. I am ripped we don't have a fourth rounder.

ATL was HOT for Levi Brown, according to Michael Smith...why would we trade down with a team that would likely take the guy we were wanting to draft.

I am not upset about giving up the fourth round pick because I really think that Branch had the most potential at the time to have the greatest impact on any team. He is a monster and has that size that everyone is looking for. Shaun Rodgers lasted until late in the second round and was drafted by the Detroit Lions, he too was projected to go in the first but for whatever reason he dropped like a rock. He's turned in a couple of pro bowl seasons so far so that isn't too shabby. I just don't know who we might be able to get in the fourth who would really have that great of impact.

Because at 5 overall they would have taken LaRon Landry, I'd guess. Reports were that the Falcs had been hot on him all year.

Yeah, this is true, but you don't take the chace that you'll trade down and not get the guy you want...that's when you end up with a Calvin Pace/Bryant Johnson guy.

Can you even imagine the uproar if we traded down with ATL and they took Brown? And we are sitting at 8 without a tackle in sight?

Yep, and this is what happens when the front office screws up and we HAVE to draft for need and don't have the luxury of drafting BPA.

We lost Leonard Davis and replaced him with Levi Brown. It's a wash IMHO.

Brian, your my bro and all but we couldn't be on different planets in this one.

Someone brought up a valid point here. Davis was a guard who was forced to play tackle by neccessity/ questionable coaching calls by the Cardinal staff. Levi is a tackle, letter to the law.

I bet you a case of beer come August, when they break camp, that wash will have saved them about 10-13 million dollars over what they would have had to pay Davis.

Last year's 5th pick, AJ Hawk, signed to a 6 year, $37.5 million dollar contract. I fully expect Brown to wind up in or around the same price range.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 7 for $35 million deal. So, in that situation, yes it was a wash.. A 15 million dollar wash.

IMHO, Levi is a true NFL tackle and Big is a allpro NFL guard. That's not a wash, in my eyes...plus, you get Levi for more years as he's younger.

BPA will always factor need into it, but the level of which need is a part of the BPA equation relates to how strong your team is. When we are drafting 15-20 or so, BPA will have less to do with need and more to do with talent only..but until then there will be glaring holes.

IMO, the FO just fixed a mistake from a few years ago when they took Big and couldn't make him a tackle...instead of hanging on, they cut bait on dead weight. I like it. It's very anti-Cardinals.
