1. keep him for depth at tackle
2. move him to guard
3. cut him for cap room
4. trade him for something else

I honestly think we will not cut him if we can't trade him. I'd guess we'd keep him and go with #1 AND #2. I'll tell you what Denny WON'T do. That's install Shelton as a starter at RT and move Ross to G. If that happens this year, we'll be oh, 4-10 or so.

IMO our O-Line improved when shelton took over last year for AC.

And when he was out the last three games, AC stepped in and there was no noticable drop off. In fact, I was surprised by how well Clement played in those games.

ding! ding! ding! ding! In fact - our last three games of the year - the Ram game where the offense DOMINATED, the Seahags game where the offense would have dominated if not for mutliple interceptions and the Bucs game, where no one came within 50 miles of McCown were probably our best overall games of the season(minus the Saints game where we dominated as well).

If we don't trade him, we'll keep him. Somebody inevitably will get injured and then he'll play.

Well, Ross has played RG before, so I'd guess he would move over and Shelton plays RT. I'm sure Shelton is healther than last year and will be an improvement from what we saw. Also, it took him a while to get used to playing RT. Now, he's figured it out.

Either that, or wait until Bridges fails horribly and Denny's forced to do something.

Or, I'll go with the someone will get injured idea.

One thing, with him at either LT or RT for the 2nd string preseason games, the Cards 2nd team will end up really stomping the other preseason teams 2nd string. I'd guess we see lots of preseason wins. Whop de do :(

I still would rather keep him than trade him.

wow - the LJ Shelton camp adheres to the Llyod Bridges motto of "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue!"

Ross will start at RT for us - no matter who is on the roster - why - BECAUSE HE'S THE BEST RT ON THE ROSTER AND LJ SHELTON IS AN AVERAGE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN.

Wait...are you saying that LJ is over-rated?

Yes, I was kidding.

I LOVE the idea of Henry for Shelton. I think we come out way ahead even with Henry playing the last year of his contract after the trade.

I think Henry would play like a man possessed, to prove he should still be the #1 back at Buffalo and to set himself up for a fat new contract with the Cardinals.

But...if the Henry deal does not go; Shelton will either work to crack the staring line-up (at gaurd) or he will play at his real NFL level, a back-up offensive lineman (overpaid but not over-rated).

In order, I would want to:

Trade him for a pick
Trade him for Henry
Use him as a backup T
Use him as the starting RT
Release him

There is another way to use LJ and that is in the upcoming draft. We could tie him to one of our picks in a lower round and use the pair to move up.
