Fwiw. Seems a little more supportive than the article depicts. Imo. Yes, another thread. It's the first pick after all. :D

It’s a really good point. Whatever team takes him is going to want assurances that he’s going to accept a no-baseball clause in his contract. My question is: What has his agent been telling teams? Because Keim has already put it out in the open that it’s pretty much mandatory that the clause will be in the contract, so we know the question is being posed to Murray and his agent. If you remember, Tennessee and Mariota had a lingering contract dispute because Tennessee wanted him to include a no-surfing clause in his contract. Murray and baseball would be this on a much larger scale.

I’ve questioned Murray’s commitment to the sport. Him declining to include a no-baseball clause in his contract would reinforce this notion.

That could most definitely be what they were discussing and going over this week with his agent (if he was actually here or not) ...the timeline would make sense. You'd have to have something iron clad worked out beforehand for sure.

I'm sure the Cards asked the agent to come with Murray to Phoenix to discuss the no baseball cause in the contract. They would want assurances of that before picking him. Doubt whether Murray's camp would have a problem with it.

lol: NFL Netwok just went through cards schedule and predicted 1-15 with Rosen...then with Murray? 2-14...

That would be best argument to look elsewhere in draft.
That would not surprise then what if Murray gets another coach GM and all of a sudden he is out the door because the new coach wants "His" guy and from what I've read Murray isnt adaptable to many other systems then we will have wasted Yet another 1st round pick

I think the Cards are going to draft Murray and have a no-baseball clause in his contract. If he ever goes to play baseball again it will be because he is a crappy qb and the Cards cut him. Really it's as simple as that.

What is wrong with that?

Nothing, his life his choice. Unfortunately for the team that drafts him though it doesn't come at no cost to them if he changes his mind. If he doesn't go in top 5 then I start to get more worried as a team because if he doesn't get the deal he wants he could end up going back to baseball and then I'm out a critical pick this year.

What does a “no baseball” clause really mean? The cards can’t go after Murray’s baseball money (probably), and they can’t get the draft pick back.

The NFL isn’t literally slavery; they can’t prevent you from making a living outside the league; they can just try to claw back the money they’ve already paid.

I don’t mean to debate anyone and do respect your opinions. However, many choose the path that leads to more money. Happens all the time in both the business world and sports world.

Signing a contract to play baseball and then changing his mind shows me his "all-in" is conditional to his and only his advantage .

the baseball was just the plan b, he knows that his height could be seen as an issue, but after last season where he showed he can be great in football he just follow his heart and play the game he loves
if he wanted a long career, more money, no risking injuries he would have just go with baseball
i think he is doing what the 99% wouldnt

What he wants is money. Once he realized the NFL could be more lucrative than baseball he flipped.
Yeah.. cause turning down an instant 20 mil to instead play a sport no one is thinking or giving him credit for that he can play shows he has no passion for the game... Smh

Rosen got $18M fully guaranteed. You don't think Murray is expecting more than that? Mayfield got $32M guaranteed.

Your brand as an NFL QB can be worth more way more from endorsement deals than a guy playing in the minors for who knows how long.

When he got a 2nd or 3rd round draft grade initially the baseball money was looking better, so he took it. Once his team got his hype up and was looking like top 5 the money from NFL started looking much better so he changed his mind.

I have no problem chasing the most money, just be honest about it and just know that if he doesn't get a top pick your pick might end up wasted. Likewise are we desperate enough to spend 30M+ for a QB will some significant question marks? I don't think we are right now.

According to some outlets.. Rosen has been out of the loop and really has no idea what is happening to him. Should we stop being Card fans because the Cardinals front office is making business decisions? It's a business..plain and simple. If the organizations aren't held accountable to this standard then why should the player? Seems hypocritical to me... Regardless of what we what to ASSUME about the kids passion for either sport. Double the wins? If they can promise that’s the ratio for the rest of their careers seems like a slam dunk to pick him unless they’re both going to suck forever.
