What game did you realize that the wheels were coming off?

For me it was losing to BUF at home. A BUF team that came limping in with a horrible defense, on the road, and pulls out a win. Even though we were 4-2 at that point, I started telling people that this team's weaknesses are too great and every team in the league will know we can't run, can't pass protect, and can't stop the run. A lot of my friends told me I was overreacting, but it's looking more and more that I was correct to hit the panic button at 4-2.

I believed the wheels were already off following our preseason loss to Tennessee. I was thrilled with our 4 - 0 start but never really believed in it. Our win over Miami convinced me our record was a mirage.

Rams game for me. When we had to throw the ball 50 times because we couldn't run the ball at all even with Ryan Williams still healthy (14-33) and could only score 3 points with Kolb getting sacked 9 times.

Until then I thought maybe we were going to continue our charmed life from the second half of 2011. I didn't buy the short week excuse at all.

I saw some serious problems in the Rams game, but I chalked it up to being on the road, divisional game, and perhaps we just came out flag. But I defnitely did realize "crap, this team really can't run" at that point.

The Rams game was it for me as well, it erased any thought of this team having a remote legit shot...even through luck. Seeing a QB pounded so many times after the game before made it clear. I was at least hoping for some mid season acquiring of some players to make it interesting, but no luck :)

Fins game.

The sack wave began in week 4 & the HOF pass combo of Tannehill to Hartline torched our D all day...how we won that game to get to 4-0 I have no idea.

The main question is when did we realized we didn't even have any wheels on the OL lol...I think that happened as soon as the replacement refs left and we could no longer hold for dear life :D

Buffalo for sure. That was the easiest game remaining for the entire season, losing it was a damning sign. But I guess that wasnt so much as the wheels were coming off, as they were already bouncing down the path while the wagon was pillaged and burned.

Agree with the Rams game. The way the OL was completely dominated was an ominous sign. For some reason, I always had a bad feeling about the Buffalo game.

Ohhhh what a thrashing that was...:bang: I will never forget that whooping the Fins gave us & sent this team into a tailspin which ultimately led to Bidwill changing the locks on a all star coaching staff the day the season ended instead of firing them like men. :bang:

+1.

Thought this was a 8-8 team at the beginning of the season, thought it was when we were 4-0, and still believe it now.

My only change is that I think it will be a challenge for the Cardinals to even get to 8-8.

We went 4-0 without gaining over 300 yards as a team. That is a huge flag right there.

And I don't mean to sound like a know it all. When a team starts 4-0, expectations go up.

Rams game, you could see what the long term results were going to be especially when you know all along that the team would sit and do absolutely nothing to rectify the situation.

Game 12 of the 1988 season.

:biglaugh:

All of our games this season, minus the iggles, could have just as easily been losses. We were good enough to stay in the games, and somewhat fortunate to not lose them. This team never felt like a world-beater, but that 4 game run was fun to watch.

same here. that was a depressing win. the writing was all over the walls.

Kolb was sacked 8 times.
We had 26 yards rushing.
Tannehill passed for over 400 (still his best game of the season)

At that point in new of O-Line was going to make moving the ball impossible, and our Defense wasnt as good as we thought....and wasnt reliable enough to be depended upon to win us games.

I got nervous the game before the replacement refs came back when I realized I was pretty sure I'd been right in saying the reason Batiste and Massie were playing fairly well is they were holding on every play. I said it then when the refs come back, we're going to set records for holding.

We haven't, because we're not doing it anymore, and that's why all the sacks. the replacement refs really hid how bad our tackles were.

I agree, in part. I said after the Tennessee game that Batiste was holding on every play and that was the only real improvement he brought to this line over DJ Young. But, I think there was something else going on. I think the rest of the league just assumed we had a horrible but still NFL caliber offensive line and didn't realize just how susceptible we were to sustained pressure. Unfortunately, the week before the refs returned, the Dolphins showed the league just how bad these guys really were. We were among the worst in recent memory even with Massie and Batiste holding regularly, when the refs returned we moved into historically inept territory.

I knew the season was lost when both Levi Brown and Jeremy Bridges went down with Season ending injuries. To lose your two most experienced players, at the position that was paper thin to begin with, was a death blow to the offense IMO.

The fact that this team was somehow able to win 4 games in a row blows my mind.

Yeah, that Rams game on Thurs. night when Kolb just got pummeled it was becoming obvious the OL was not NFL quality.

Wiz knew he had to have the Buffalo W and when they couldn't pull another rabbit out of the hat, the luster of all those UOP W's was gone!

No surprise on MNF then. This team is in serious turmoil. The D isn't going to keep covering for this O very much longer.
