Durant is at worst the 3rd best player in the league already.

Picking Oden was still the right choice, you can't know that he is going to be injured all the time.

I know that's often the company line in the NBA, take the big guy when in doubt but I don't think it was the right move here (and although it's easy for me to say, I definitely thought it was the wrong move then).

Just about EVERYBODY that watched a few games of Durant came away saying the same thing "can you imagine what this kid will be able to do when he fills out?". Oden was obviously a dominant center in the making but he was doing it with the advantage of a grown man's body vs. young men. Durant was one of the most unstoppable scorers in the history of the game and he was doing it with a kid's frame.

I did not predict anywhere near this degree of injury trouble, but I said all along that Oden was over-hyped and looked like one long list of excuses. Of course, I was nearly laughed off the board, but I'm accustomed to that.

What I love about Durant is that he lets the game come to him. Durant doesn't throw up junk and hopes it goes in the basket...ala Carmelo Anthony.

And he doesn't commit an offensive foul one out of every 3 times he touches the ball like Carmelo Anthony either. NOBODY gets away with more offensive fouls than Carmelo, IMO.

Pretty decent call by me, "I think you have to take Oden....but this could end up being very similar to the whole MJ vs Bowie thing, and we all know how that worked out"

On a similar note, David Aldridge said that the Blazers should have traded the pick for Jared Jeffries.

You & I were in agreement there. I was never sold on Oden being a dominant force at the next level,i thought that although a force in college,he also played with very little awareness at times and seemed a little mechanical & clueless. Overhyped BIG time.
