Sorry, but I didn't see a dominant charger offense against the Cardinals. What I did see where two teams into there 2nd preseason game with a Cardinal team much better prepared than a Charger team. I'm not drinking the Cardinal kool-aid but I guess I do have some South Texas sweet tea running through my veins. Here are some points I would have not known if I had not watched the game and went soley off some of the posts:

1) Great coaching staff, our youngsters don't make mistakes and both the Cowboys and Chargers had penalities that reflect bad on their coaching staffs. Mac deserves a lot of credit.

2) Gilmore made an incrediable catch, add amazing to that as well

3) Lucas is a ball hawk and as he shown last year in the Giant game, not only can he find the ball but the endzone as well.

4) the Chargers 1st team hardly dominated our defense and had there share of inconsistency.

5) saw the game on the charger network and they where overly impressed with the Cardinals new attack style defense instead of read and react crap we as Cardinal fans had to put up with last year. I saw the Cowboy network in the first game and the Charger network unlike Babe Laughin'burg and crew gave the Cardinals some credit and there was no Cardinal bashing.

6) Mckinnon played a great game

7) The Cardinal special team had problems with the Charger returner (believe his name is Drayton Florence) but so did the Seahawks the week before. Chargers seem to have a special team star being born

8) Lastly on the negative side. I give up on Michael Stone. The guy can't cover and is horrible at tackling. Come on Graves, thrown the stone into the bottom of the sea and pick up Ryan McNeil.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with a majority of people who post here but didn't see a team struggle as bad as I thought I would see. The offense against the Chargers looked to be very conservative because it seems they are going to have to make a tough decision on the third back position and Mac wanted them to get their touches. I guess 5-11 seasons can make anyone overly critical and negative.

I like what I see so far... Blake will come around I'm sure and at least I didn't see him throw the traditional Jake the Mistake 1st quarter int.

Hey, how did you get to watch the game down in SA. I was hoping to be able to watch it on the Fox Sports West channel but it was blacked out. Do you have one of those older satellite dishes??

Yes I have

Yes I have a older system. It was on the Fox Network for Southern California. They played the game the night it took place but I was only able to view it tape delay at 1:00 pm Sunday since I had some business I had to attend to Saturday. And by the way, I'm a Texas Ex and I'm a fan of EVERY team you listed... small world.

To Vince Young, the future QB of the Arizona Cardinals!

I saw the Chargers run all over our first team D. We had alittle bit of a pass rush, but for the most part Brees had alot of time.

That was the only thing that bothered me. Our depth played good.

Top line thoughts on Chargers game (based on radio commentary only) - position by position -

QB - Blake had trouble connecting with receivers. Despite Mac's comments, McCown doesn't seem even adequate as a backup.

RB - Anderson locked down #3. If we keep a #4 it's still too close to call.

FB - Hodgins hasn't flashed during the first 2 games. (Is this because FB's are only noticeable when they miss blocks?) Nice things were said about Rue in the 2H. I'll have to see tape.

WR - Kasper did best by far. None of our receivers got open very much. No one looks like a primo deluxe Randy Moss type go-to receiver yet.

TE - Nice catch by Banks. Lousy blitz pickup by Banks on the McCown fumble. Diamond proved he can block.

OL - Didn't open up many gaping holes. We were slightly overmatched physically. Leonard's return should help. Dishman's block sprang Anderson.

DL - We got blacktopped inside in the 1Q and need to get tougher - either internally or from an addition from outside. King, Bryant, Bell, Pace make for an improved DL (even with KVB's horrific injury).

LB - All three starters plus Hayes had strong games.

DB - Brees and Flutie beat our starting corners in the 1H. Eason and Harris continue to make plays. (Nice Eason block on the Lucas pick). For the past 2 years, Lucas (in a backup role) has won a couple of games for us. He's vastly underrated.

K/P - Player has finally made me a believer. Both Duncan and Gramatica represent vast improvements over Butthead and other Cardinal kickers of the recent past.

Return Game - Kasper's final kickoff return to get us decent field position only 6 points ahead was excellent. Boldin looks comfortable returning punts.

Wow, a Blues fan in SA? Its hard to find many hockey fans in San Antonio, much less a Blues fan. I graduated from New Braunfels HS, and went to UT for a year. Majored in drinking and poker and did pretty well, unfortunately my professors expected me in class :)

I'm very excited about watching Young play some this year, but from everything I've read Mock has looked great in practice and scrimmages this summer.
