What if Baltimore offered its 1st and RB Ray Rice?

I recall hearing last year that the Cardinals were quite impressed with Ray Rice when he came out of Rutgers. Rice had a couple of really impressive games last year for the Ravens but with the emergence of the big fullback McClain late in the season, didn't see much action in December and January. He still finished with over 400 yards and averaged 4.2 yards per carry. His pro day numbers in 2008 showed that he ran a 4.43 40 yard dash at 5'8" and 205 pounds.

Any chance the Cards are asking for Rice instead of the 3rd rounder and would the Ravens consider this deal? Adding Rice to go with Hightower could enable the Cards to land Brandon Pettigrew with the #1 from Baltimore and still grab a guy like Larry English with the 31st pick.

I liked Rice last year but then Hightower surprised us all. Can't wait till Sat. though the 4 P.M. start stinks.

Not sure where you live but the 4pm start time is eastern. If you are in Arizona it starts at 1pm.

I grew up in Santa Cruz, CA when Souls of Mischief was just starting to hit when I graduated highschool. We used to travel to a little club in San Jose to see them jam before they ever cut an album.

93 til infinity is in my all time top 10 albums...

"Sold American".........assuming McNulty confirms that there is more to see in Rice.

Cheaters good. But he is 30 going to be 31 iirc. To old to trade for unless we get their 1st too.

I don't think they'd go with anything more than the 2nd. We could still draft a RB for the future and take Taylor for now.

Then leave Taylor out n take the 1st round pick instead. Taylor to old for a rb IMHO. Even if he is good.

Are you that convinced that the RB the Cardinals can take in this year's draft can be an every down RB like Taylor probably could?

Nope. But not confident taylor won't start losing a step and remain healthy on the other side of 30.

There is that risk, but I guess it depends on what you'd be more comfortable with. I feel he'd be a quality RB for at least a couple more years, but you seem not to. Either way we need one for next year.

Perfect for us last year when we felt we needed a burner to augment Edge's inside the tackles capability.

Not so perfect this year as a "big back" compliment to Hightower.

I live in NJ, watch a lot of Rutgers football and loved Rice (who played HS football in New Rochelle, NY just down the road from where I grew up).

But to me he profiles physically like a slightly quicker version of Thomas Jones than he does a LaDanian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson or an Edgerrin James (in his prime).

Now LeRon McClain is a different story...

I wouldn't mind it I really hope we just don't two drafts picks, imo the only fair trade for Boldin is if we get a player with almost the same type of value included.

I hope there is a Plan B insofar as running backs go. From my point of view there are only 2 rb's who can be every down backs...if they are both gone I cannot see TH carrying the load for 1/2 or more of a game week in and week out...there are virtually no f/a left... a trade??? maybe....guess the f/o knows a whole lot more than we do, eh?

1st a 5th and a RB from the Ravens. Truly takes away the need of drafting a RB early and allows us to package the 4/5th pick with our 2/3 pick to move up in that round.
