he ran a 4.43 40 yard dash at 5'8" and 205 pounds.
Perfect for us last year when we felt we needed a burner to augment Edge's inside the tackles capability.

Not so perfect this year as a "big back" compliment to Hightower.

Jeff you couldn't be more wrong about this. Whisenhunt has come out and said he wants a "speed" back to compliment HT. HT is a bruiser between the tackle, goal line type guy.

How about Chester Taylor and Minnesota's 2nd round pick?

I think the one thing that has driven me crazy this offseason are posters continuing to trying to trade for 30 + year old RB's. From LT, to Chester Taylor, to even a younger but beat up Larry Johnson....Its just not going to happen.

And you shouldn't want it too. Weren't you a fan when they signed Emmitt? You are immensely devaluing Boldin with this propsal. Chad Greenway and a 2nd might work however.

Rice is in his second year and McClain in his third? Those guys are cheaper and better than McGahee. I doubt BAL adds any RB other than the expensive one who seems to be slipping. You just don't trade cheap, young talent in the NFL.

Yes and Chester Taylor would probably be a quality #1 RB for the next couple years. Emmitt's situation was a bit different. He was used up when he got here.
What is your answer to the Cardinals RB situation?

Nail on head.

Young cheap talent doesn't get traded in the NFL unless a contract situation arises. Baltimore is way to smart for that.

I can easily see where he is coming from. I mean it isnt to hard to beat out an average running back that averages under 4 yards a carry and doesnt score very many TD's.

Why is that? Because he is McGahee? If Willis is better, it isn't by much. I watched a lot of Baltimore games and Willis McGahee hasn't played 16 games for 4 years and has lost the burst/quickness he used to have. He is quickly becoming a plodder rather than a big, shifty back. He will never average 4.0 YPC again in his career IMO.

Spoken better than I did. A better way to phrase it is that even if Willis is a good back, he isn't head and shoulders above the other 2 RB, but he makes 5-6 million more a year. In addition, Rice and McClain are improving, while McGahee is sliding. I hate ot say it, but McGahee reminds me of Edge when he has lost that sharp cutting style and became a much more physical runner.

hehe. joe, you're missing Shogun's meaning and humor, I believe. Shogun breathes the U. He might even wear those Miami hurricane warning gang tricolors.

How about what everyone else has said in this thread and draft a young, talented, inexpensive option to go with our two other young, talented, inexpensive back already on the rostor?

I could go along with that as well. I'm just concerned that we might not have a clear #1 RB that way tho.

I agree with this. He's still their best back, but McClain and Rice are definitely nipping at his heels.

Yup. The Ravens would be more likely to try and trade McGahee to us rather than the other 2. I'm not sure the Cards FO would go for that considering his injury issues and salary.

Now a more realistic possibility is would the Cards be interested in a deal that features Todd Heap (like say a 1st, Heap, and a 6th rounder)? He's much more likely to be traded as it would actually take away salary from the Ravens and it does fill a need of the Cards. However, we have to mention he's had injury issues of his own and is more of a recieving TE than an all-around TE.

I'd prefer to have a deal that involved Suggs but I just don't see it happening

Heap has to be about the most injury-prone guy in the league. Has he ever played a 16 game season? His talent is unquestioned but it does no good when he's constantly on the sidelines. Plus, the injuries have to start taking a toll at some point.

It's more likely Baltimore tries to include him in a trade and the Cardinals balk than the other way around IMO. The Cardinals already have a boatload of tight ends who can't stay healthy.

I would jump all over this deal. I really like Rice and think this allows us to fill more holes and draft purely on best player available.
