I'd be fine with Walker or Thompson (Tristan or Klay, for that matter). I'm not overly fond of either Morris brother but I really don't know what to think about all the Shumpert rumors. I'm not very familiar with his game. I only watched him a few times during his first 2 years and he was unimpressive each time. I didn't watch a single Ga Tech game this year so I have no idea whether he's really improved that much. If we're really after him, I hope he brings more than just great measurables.

Steve

I'm nervous about the Morris brothers as well. Tristan or Klay Thompson and Walker appear to be the safer bets. I hope someone drops for the Suns. I just do not have any confidence in the Suns FO to make the right pick. I hope I'm wrong. They need to keep saying over and over to themselves... BPA, BPA, BPA.

With Kemba's height and strength, I don't see him ever shooting over 40% in the NBA. He may be quick, but he's not AI quick. Kemba won't get the open looks with quicker longer defenders like he managed in college, and he isn't strong enough to consistently attack the NBA lane. I think he will be a good backup - but the Suns need starter potential with Nash's eminent retirement in 2 years.

There is some funny stuff in that chat. My favorites:
Paul Coro:
Coop, Biyombo sure has memorized his birth date well. He cites it so quickly when asked that he probably forgot the real one.

Trade Gortat! He sucks...

That was funny. I think Cooper and Coro had the most insight into the draft in that chat.

My biggest concern about Brooks is I rarely see passion, only anger. That type of person is not a leader, Kemba is definitely a leader. In fact, he's the kind of leader that does it for the right reasons. Also, as has been mentioned, Kemba is a much stronger and much more physical player than Brooks. He may not be quite the leaper Brooks is but even still he's an excellent rebounder because he simply understands the game.

If you want to make the case that Kemba is not as important to this team because we already have Brooks, I could agree with that. Not because they are so similar though, merely because they play the same position and do SOME of the same things. Add in the fact that if we keep Brooks, PG is no longer anywhere near our most glaring weakness and I could see drafting someone else. However, despite the fact that I think we undervalue a healthy Brooks, put Kemba and Aaron on the same team and Walker wins the starting spot and rather easily, IMO.

Steve

Excellent post. Especially the passion/anger/leader part.

Some of you guys are high. Rondo-lite? Please dude.

Player A:

11 PPG
4.4 APG
6.1 RPG
48% FG
27% 3PT
57% FT

Player B:

18 PPG
4.5 APG
5.5 RPG
44% FG
33% 3PT
81% FT

any guesses?

I agree with this part of your post. I look around and don't see all these "Kemba types" you're talking about so I guess we'll have to wait and see on your other point.

Steve

That's because a lot of them are on the bench. They aren't great shooters and yet they have to dominate the ball to get their points. They were discussing this on ESPN yesterday. Scouts are saying there are already a lot of Kemba Walkers in the NBA. Don't get me wrong, I think this guy has additional strong points, ie. leadership, tenacity, maturity that a lot these other guys lack.

Kemba is not even small. His size is just average for a PG.

But he is really quick, has leadership qualities and charisma and lead a team that was not highly rated to the national championship.

He is a no-brainer pick if on the board.

That said I STILL want Josh Selby and Jeremy Tyler!!!

Really if the choice is between Kemba, Markieff, Shumpert and Thompson it has to be:

Kemba

Thompson

Shumpert

Markieff

The Pistons had a workout with Markieff,Biyombo,Thompson and Markieff had the best performance there. I don't know if that means much but maybe he isn't complete trash?

Why couldn't we get a second pick last summer and get Marshon Brooks? We're old and talent depleted (with lousy scouting, like 20-23 other teams) so maybe get not one but two rooks? Our front office sucks! Blah, had to get it off my chest.

At least they got Markieff right , who pretty much nobody liked before the draft including me, at least for the moment.
