Ok, so I'm reading alot of Karl Anthony Towns rumor stuff this morning and I couldn't help but day dream a little. ...

What if we were able to aquire Towns for say: Chriss, Warren, #16, and a couple of future #1's.....

A core of Ayton, Towns, Jackson, and Booker would be amazing....

Am I right? Am I crazy?

I mean those 4 and my mother at pg, would be a playoff team. .. and maybe a contender if we found someone else to run the point in a couple of years.

Minnesota hangs up and blocks your number. They won’t trade him for the #1 pick let alone that crap. Thibbs will be out before KAT gets traded.

If you have those 4, you gotta be crazy to pick Ayton instead of Doncic.

Really, because Ayton is a 5 and Towns is a 4, I really don't see Doncic being a 1. He's a sg or a sf, I don't think he's a point guard in the league.

Such team would be very good in attack, but nothing special in defense. I'm not sure that Ayton and Towns are a good fit. Towns also can play on 5.

And yeah, Doncic can play PG, especially with Booker, who is not bad with the ball. Luka plays on 1 for majority of time in Real Madrid.

But nevertheless, that will never happen.

Sure speculating on ways that the trade could possibly happen. It's just not happening without including the #1 pick though.

You are obviously a much better speculator then me, but my daydreaming game is on another level. Sorry for wasting your time. ;)

I wouldn’t take too much offense to what Cards said. We’re all throwing pie in the sky ideas up, but getting Kat probably starts at #1 pick and goes from there. The Wolves would HAVE to get a shot at a possible superstar and there’s just not enough in your proposal IMO to get him there.

Ryan has mentioned the possibility of trading that pick a couple of times. Each time he's made it clear that he's valuing the number one pick at the same level of a young star. It's our pick, straight up, for a young star and that's it.

I think McD and Sarver are just getting high dreaming about trade offers but when push comes to shove they are sticking with Ayton. 'Saver' can't resist the UofA guy on a rookie contract. McD is the timeline dude and he knows we need to outlast the Warriors.

If you could sure. But its not possible. I take Ayton over Towns. But thats just me. The only player i would trade the #1 for would be Anthony Davis. No one else

The Wolves would want a star player plus picks in return if they traded Towns.

Other teams will be competing for him as well if he is on the trade market so the Wolves will get a star in return.

And we would want to trade the 31st pick straight up for him. IOW, You Can't Always Get What You Want! This year's number one pick has exceptional value, I doubt any team would add sweeteners to it to make the deal work unless Davis was the target.

And the Wolves aren't in a great position here. They have a one way big that doesn't want to be there. Maybe someone will outbid us but our first is worth Towns IMO and Ryan has made it clear that he feels the same way about the pick's value.

Has Towns even made a peep about wanting out?

Watching some of their games down the stretch of the season and in the playoffs I was REALLY taken aback by how little Minny featured him, but have there been actual internal rumblings reported about him being pissed anywhere?

I missed it where the Suns are trading the #1 pick for Towns and his new contract. As I recall his new max contract was a stumbling block.

For me. But it turns out I have very little control over what they do. Which sucks for me.

I would pass on trading for KAT unless we ironed out (unofficially) a reasonable contract for him going forward. But my point wasn't whether the Wolves would do it so much as Ryan has stated on more than one occasion that he would only trade that first for a star straight up.

Also going back awhile with McDononough, his goal has always been to trade for a star player given the opportunity. However, I don't suspect he ever imagined owning the rights to the #1 pick in the draft and possibly being able to trade for an elite player.

I think McDonough will be going through some pre-draft anxiety just like the fans.

I think there were some questions if Towns would be getting the max or super max. The article below indicates Towns would be only getting the max. See link to article below.

Like Booker, Towns is eligible for the rookie max contract extension this summer and would be a restricted free agent in 2019.

Like Booker, it is unlikely Towns would want to turn down a max offer from the Wolves. They can offer more money and this would provide insurance from loss of earning power for a young player.

However, it does make Towns future contract more attractive since it would not be a super max contract if the Suns were to trade for him and the Wolves did not want to make this financial commitment.

For the sake of conversation, could Towns be signed to a max offer by the Wolves this summer and then immediately be traded to the Suns in a sign-and-trade for the #1 pick?

We do know Booker and Towns are friends and the Suns want to keep Booker happy. It may take Ayton a few years to get to the level of Towns.

Only kicking the tires here with a little more information.
